Bye bye................blackbird - Wall Decal

If you asked me, I'd tell you I'm not crazy about birds.

If you asked me why, I'd maybe admit to you that they scare me.

Always have -

I blame it on seeing " The Birds " at too young an age.

Or that on a night out once, my date brought me back to his parent's house and left me alone for 5 minutes while I watched an Amazon Parrot - HUGE - deftly take his clawed foot - open the cage door - and come towards me at an alarmingly fast pace ( walking - not flying )

Or that I once stepped outside my house - to see hundreds ( and that is not an exaggeration - hundreds and hundreds in fact ) of crows lined up on every possible wire - limb - roof top in the vicinity - silently staring at me ( or so it seemed )  It was an overcast day and the image has been tatooed on the back of my eyelids forever....................I later learned this is how they grieve when one has died.
A little too Edgar Allen Poe for my taste.

And some of you may remember my first experience with Grackles last Spring - a bird I'd never even heard of until we moved here - and of which I'm dreading their return - you can see the post on that HERE

Or Mr and Mrs Duck that came for a little dip in our filthy pool HERE

Which is why it's strange that I happen to love bird decor.

As in my pillows..............

Or other decorative items

The night light is from TJ Maxx - 4.99 - my daughter brought it back for me from Florida - love love love it

Anyway all this to try to explain to myself and to you - why I just ordered this......................

I know...............
I don't get it either.

Don't even have a clue where I'll put it - but I find it enchanting for some reason.

Have a wonderful Tuesday one and all

Much love,
Me

  2. Ooooh, I LOVE your new birdcage decor, and I don't even like bird stuff (unless it's owls)! :)

Soon I expect you'll start decorating with squirrels. Ha!

  3. That's because it IS enchanting, good choice. Those steps in that photo are also enchanting-looking, however I suspect if they were in my house I'd be in a full body cast very quickly.

  4. Suzan ... I love birds and they don't scare me. I had a friend that would not even go in a house that had a bird in a cage. I love your wall decal silhouette. I would like something like that in my newly remodeled bathroom.

  5. Just remember... You are OK around birds as long as there isn't a short, very round man with a swoop nose around!

    Love the decal!

  6. Well, guess what...I am the same way...I'm scared of birds, I think their eyes are deadly, and I really don't like anything about them...but I have bird decor all over my house, too. CRAZY

  14. The wall decal might be very appealing because the birds have been set free. A subliminal message Did you know a flock of crows is called a "murder of crows"?

  15. The parrot story is a freaky one!!

    I do like the decal.

  18. I find myself looking at bird things lately and I am not sure why. I found a bird knob the other day and tried to figure out where I could use it. I think I have come up with an idea so I need to go back to get 1.

Thanks so much for the fun heart. I need to send you a thank you, but I am madly trying to clean house with my left hand. I go in for surgery on Thursday and a high school male friend just texted to tell me he is driving through town on Friday morning and wants to stop in. And Bobbie of the blog Cottleston Pie is coming to town for a conference next week. I have to have the house clean since it always looks clean in my posts.

I promise that there will be a thank you coming once my hand has healed and I can write it.

You can check this link on Instagram to see what I posted about your gift and what I wrote about you. https://instagram.com/p/0ToUIrL-Ku/?taken-by=artandsand

  20. My sister was very afraid of birds. Of course, out of all 5 grown children, hers was the house where a bird got inside. She had just turned 4 when the movie came out, and I don't think mom would have allowed her to see it then. But, it must have been on TV and there were many reruns, so I have no idea if it was the movie that ruined her on birds or if there was some other event. I love birds, feathers, eggs, nests, houses...everything!

  21. Birds, squirrels, mice and cows....what aren't you afraid of??? LOL! I love that decal and the fact that the cage is open makes it even better! I bet you have a pretty good idea of where you want to put it.

  22. When I was little, my sister Vicki , my cousin Roxie, and I were watching "The Birds"... when my brother and cousin John decided to throw real stuffed black birds into the room and I've not like birds ever since then. We get the real large black crows out here in our backyard. I opened the door a few days ago to let the dogs out and our trees were full of them...thinking 50 to 60 of them!! It gave me the creeps!!!

  24. Suzan I just typed a whole lengthy comment about how you and I are cut from the same cloth and how all my friends can't imagine that I like birds in my decor, since I am so afraid of the real thing. I love them as inanimate objects and I LOVE that decal, and wouldn't know where I would put it either, but I want it. I saw that you gave someone else the website so I will follow that....I said all that and then it just disappeard before I could finish So now I've said it all again..Happy Thursday..Judy

  29. I used to be afraid of birds flying in the house. Let a budgie loose and I acted like it was a bat flying at my head. My chickens have cured me of that phobia. Kay flies at my head if I don't get her sunflower seeds out fast enough. You need a chicken!
