An Oops Makeover

Just a quick ( boring ) post ( because I have to get ready for a corn roast that we've been invited to!!! )

Remember this little table that I picked up for 10.00? ( you can read post HERE )

I looked at this and HATED it - look at my poor little white stripes ( all I can say about this is I was exhausted when I was working on it - a dangerous thing obviously lol )  there was nothing to do except sand the entire top down and start over - in an entirely different direction.......................
but something magical happened in the sanding process - and I ended up stopping when I realized it was exactly how ( I thought ) it was meant to look from the beginning!

I painted out the body of the table in white to contrast the drawer and the bottom shelf -

Except for possibly a little distressing on the legs, it's DONE - on to bigger and better things ( which I'll only work on with the proper amount of sleep!

  5. GAK ! I hate trips like that ! It's why I never use Google directions. I'm a good navigator so I just work it out old-fashioned like, on a map. And it's so disheartening when it's a much smaller even than you expected. But good for you that you got John to go along. No way would hubby come with me !

Loved the "Keep calm and carry on"! The other day I bought for me and my friend Kelley (we are market partners) a button that said: Get excited and MAKE THINGS!!!

  9. I love the table now that you have sanded it, its very cute. Is the grey Anne Sloan paris grey or did you use something else, I like the grey.I keep wanting to try doing a stencil or stripes on one of my painting projects, was this hard to do?
And get some rest, take sometime for you.

  22. I love it! Isn't it wonderful when something great and unexpected happens to what you think is a nearly unsalvageable mess? I didn't think it was bad to begin with, but we tend to be our own harshest critic. I absolutely love it after it was sanded, though. Great work!

  23. Love love LOVE it! Sometimes the greatest beauty arises out of what seems to be a hopeless mess! As a matter of fact, that's almost the same thing that happened to my little Union Jack table (I posted about it here: http://aheartfulhome.blogspot.com/2012/07/meet-union-jacques.html )

  37. I would not sand the legs. There is a certain quality about it since you have the distressed area in contrast to the fresh paint look. It compliments it more this way. SO PRETTY! I love it ;)
