Marie Antoinette at your service......................

John was going out - so I asked him to pick me up 2 tins of ASCP -

Pure White - and Antoinette

The phone rings

John says - Ok - so you want ONE PURE WHITE - and ONE MARIE ANTOINETTE?
Suzan says - Drop the Marie - just Antoinette please
John says - Well if it's called Antoinette - it must be named after Marie Antoinette
Suzan says - NO - it's just called Antoinette
Johns says - Whatever, it's the same thing
Suzan says - No - it's not - not at all - If someone's named Billy or Joe - it's not the same thing as Billy-Joe
Suzan says - If someone's name Mary or Anne it's not the same thing as Mary-Anne
Suzan says - If someone's named
John interrupts - OK - OK - I'll pick up the damn Antoinette -
John says - But I think Annie named it after Marie Antoinette -
John says - Why don't you send her a twit and ask her?
Suzan says - Send her a TWIT?  Is that short for Twitter?  Or did you mean Tweet?
John says - Yeah - don't play dumb - you know exactly what a TWIT is

Actually I do..........................

twit1
twit/
noun
informal
  1. a silly or foolish person.

Anyway - this headboard now has a name -
Marie Antoinette at your service :)
Perfect for a young girls room,  ( should girls have an apostrophe?  Who cares? )

This particular piece is soooo busy with all of the detail that in the end I decided to leave it " clean " and monotone - believe it or not I outlined every single detail in white first - decided I didn't like it - it really made it look far too cluttered - so I covered it all up

Here's the before

It hasn't been waxed yet so it will be darker when it's finished  ( should will be in bold print AND italics?  Who cares? )

Ok let's see now

This set is half finished
The dresser in the guest room is half finished
The armoire in the guest room is half finished
The floor in the guest room is half finished
The outdoor dining niche is half finished
The mini outdoor kitchen is half finished

Put them all together and what do you have?

A TWIT - who doesn't know whether she's coming or going

Should I dark wax or leave it clean?

Have a wonderful day everyone
Much love,

Partying over here !!!

  2. Simply...beautiful. It's so pretty, my thought is to leave it clean. But whichever you choose...it is awesome.

  8. Antoinette or Marie Antoinette, it is beautiful.

I am amazed you can get John to pick up the paint for you. I don't think Steve would make that drive for me.

  9. I think just a bit of dark wax would be perfect ~
    Love the dialogue!!

  11. Suzan - this is so soft and pretty. I love it. I have also carefully outlined pieces before only to paint over it! Sometimes it just looks too busy and distracts from the piece. Really lovely!

  12. Hmmmm, you cld do clear then add dark if you want to, but, of course, can't do it the other way around. Hopefully this makes sense..... Loverly colour. There are loads of twits here too! P/NS

  13. I love coming here...I always leave with a smile on my face...lol.
I like the clean look...but I'd have to see it with the dark color on to know for sure...so I'm not really sure...yet.

  14. Susan, love the headboard - it is beautiful as always... you're in the half finished boat with quite a few of us who have a dozen half done projects waiting for our attention... but, we will eventually get to them and get them done - we always do.... Cathy

  16. Yes, "girl's" has an apostrophe. Use an apostrophe s when showing possession by a single person. A girl's room. If you were talking about the room that Marie AND Antoinette share, it would be girls' room. Who cares... We know what you mean.

  17. Leave it clean for a girls room, it's so gorgeous. You're no twit.

  18. Suzan,

You have come so far with this amazing treasure of a house you bought! I can't wait to see this room all done, too. Have I told you how inspirational your kitchen is?? You are SO creative! (Can't do italics and bold here, so it's all CAPS!);00

  19. Suzan it's been a long day and I really needed that chuckle, thanks! Hmmm that's tough one. It looks pretty clean but I'm all for a little dirty. Why don't you try a little section and compare? Curious what you end up doing - keep us posted.

  22. Clear and clean. If you add all the halves, you are bound to find a whole somewhere.

  23. I am likely too late reading this.... but I say a dark wax.... gives you more options of having it used not only for a young girl's but for a more mature/ sophisticated look as well.... say in a soft grey room ..... But if you know it is a young child, then leave it as is.... but that is just my (in your words) humble opinion. Love your stuff. Inspired me to transform a mahogany king sized bed frame. I did it in Old White with champagne metalic effects paint on the cameo details.... very subtle efftect....was going to do the dark wax as well.... but loved it this way. Thanks for the courage.

  24. Nice piece! I am clueless about the dark wax question, and I think it looks great the way it is, but I know you will figure it out.

  25. I have no idea. I think it's pretty as is, but with me, more is more... I'd probably have to wax it just to SEE what it looks like.
