Good morning everyone !
Last week we picked up ( or were given I should say ) these really pretty end tables when we purchased a
head and foot board.
I was overwhelmed with this girl's generosity - and we needed a couple of these badly for our bedroom!
They were in excellent shape - but the wood just wasn't for me
I primed them before painting them ( this is not like Chalk Paint - you really have to prime first )
and got out my Modern Masters ( ME 150 Silver ) and went to town
Pretty lines but just a little boring, no?
I remembered I still had these from Michaels ( purchased these a long time ago to embellish a door
Door with Annie Sloan's signature
They're meant for scrapbooking I suppose but make really cute furniture appliques !
And the great thing is that they have adhesive on the back - so you can try them out before adding them permanently!
Yep, these will be staying permanently - just the right little touch don't you think?
I'll be putting a couple of coats of water based polyurethane on tomorrow because this paint definitely needs it - but I just love their metallic colors!
Since the tables were free - and I had the paint and the appliques - this was a cost free project
Here you can see why I needed SMALL endtables for either side of the bed - and sorry but I can't make the bed today - it's too hot to even contemplate doing it lol
I have to pick up a couple of lamps - these look a little ridiculous - still trying to find the perfect wall sconce with swing arm lamps.
By the light....................of the silvery moon ( which reminds me - I went skinny dipping at midnight a couple of nights ago ) Probably won't ever do it again - but it was soooooooooo hot and really I just went out to sit and try to cool off a little - and there sat this glistening pool - and so I kind of slinked out of my nightie and quickly slinked into the pool.
And did a few laps - by the light.............of the silvery moon ( quite literally )
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone - and a very happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians
I'm extremely proud and very grateful to have been MADE IN CANADA !!!
Much love,
I'll be at these parties !

BEFORE & AFTER HUTCH
Good morning everyone -
I'm feeling a little like the Tasmanian Devil lately - I'm flying from one thing to another at such a frantic pace that some days I think it's lunch time and it's supper time ( which means I skip a meal so I should be losing weight - and I'm NOT )
I finally finished this beast....................
And it kind of WAS a beast to work on because the back piece was very warped once we took it off -
making putting it back on extremely difficult !
But I think it was worth the extra effort
I know I already mentioned it in a previous post - but all of the black outlining was done with a sharpie pen
because the grooves ( especially in the drawers ) were too narrow, even with the smallest paint brush I could find - it worked wonderfully!
The wallpaper started off in the master bedroom HERE and on my kitchen hutch HERE
Leaving me just enough to do 1 more hutch - and this seemed to be the perfect one to do it on
As you can see, the photos were taken before the knobs were put back on - or the glass on the 2 side panels - that's me - hurry - hurry - hurry ( I'm late - I'm late - for a very important date )
Let there be light ( and there was )
I think I need to take a break from these big pieces ..........................
( there's one more waiting for me in the van - but after that I'm back to dressers for awhile I think )
Have a great day everyone - I'm off to haul another one of these out of the van lol
Keep smiling ♥
I'll be at these fabulous parties!!!

A dresser for my bathroom Vanity !
Good morning everyone !!!
Hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods...............it's not as warm here as I'd like it to be :(
John says - Funny that the silver dresser never sold?
Suzan says - Well sometimes it happens
John says - I thought that one would fly out the door
Suzan says - So did I
( I never listed it..................couldn't do it )
Suzan says - Well since no one wants it I think I'll use it for the bathroom vanity downstairs
John gets a horrified look on his face - picture this with his British accent please
" A BATHROOM VANITY??????????????????"
" IT'S A DRESSER !!!!!!!! "
" YOU'RE COMPLETELY OFF THE WALL "
" IT'LL LOOK RIDICULOUS "
He's serious too..............dead serious...............thinks it's absolutely ridiculous.
Dressers are to put clothes in -
They can't be used as Islands or Buffets or VANITIES - they're meant for clothes.
John says - Why don't you ask your readers what they think of the idea - because you don't listen to me
Suzan says -Half the bloggers out there have dressers for vanities !!!
Suzan says - Sandy ( a friend of ours ) has one and you told them you loved it !!!
John says - Well theirs looks like a vanity
I can't win - I keep trying and I. JUST. CAN'T. WIN.
Anyways.........................
If everything goes according to plan ( but you know what they say about that right? " all well laid plans
always often go awry " ) we should be renovating the downstairs bathroom in the fall.
As economically as I can.
And part of that plan will be using this dresser
as a vanity.............
It already has a fitted glass top - so would just have to have it cut out for the drain
I'm thinking of going entirely white - floors - wall tiles - and perhaps have a chandelier instead of regular bathroom lighting - put some glam in there :) and a couple of wall sconces to match
Love these ones from Thomasville -
And I could always add a little drama with shades
I'd love to up the ante and include a towel warmer while I'm at it -
And that's the way my brain works - we have 7 rooms still to finish - and I'm dreaming of bathrooms.
(If anyone is looking for instructions on how to turn a dresser into a vanity - this is a great site
for it ! http://houseandhome.com/design/custom-vanity )
OR http://bathsolutions.ca/how-turn-cabinet-into-bathroom-vanity/
A lot of you will remember this dresser ( I did it over a year ago ) but for those of you that don't here's what it looked like when I picked it up............
and if you'd like to see the first 2 transformations you can see them HERE lol - because this one was
Once - Twice - Three times a lady.................finally painted with Modern Masters Pewter - just brushed on with 3 coats of water based polyurethane for protection
Have a wonderful day all -
I'm scurrying to finish a custom job - will try to post photos tomorrow :)
Love ya

Sometimes I feel like a Mule Skinner - sideboard makeover
JOHN SAYS MY POSTS ARE FILLED WITH A LOT OF NONSENSE - WARNING -
THIS ONE IS IN PARTICULAR - SO YOU CAN SKIP DOWN TO THE LAST 2 PHOTOS IF
YOU JUST WANT A MAKEOVER
Music inspires me - ALL music - Jazz - Rock 'n Roll - Rock - Folk - Gospel - Reggae and Country - I love it all - which is why I try desperately to infuse you with lyrics that get stuck in your head all day.
( you're welcome )
I woke up yesterday morning - and belted out Good Mornin' Captain !!!
John says - WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SCREECHING FOR? as he buries his head under the blankets
Suzan says - I'm yodelling
John says - That's NOT yodeling - who do you think you are Julie Andrews?
Suzan says - Julie Andrews yodelled?
John says - Yeah - when she was escaping the mountains with all those kids
Suzan says - Oh - that's not the type of yodelling I'm doing..................
John says - Well it's horrid - can you stop please? Because you're NO Julie Andrews!
Suzan says - Well you're no MERLE HAGGARD - as I scream out Hee Hee Ha Ha Hey Hey .....
Suzan says - I feel like an old Mule Skinner - so no I don't think I will stop
John says - What in God's name is a Mule Skinner?
Suzan says - Someone who keeps Mules in line - so it's very appropriate
John grew up on classical hymns - I grew up with Mule Skinner Blues -
And if I can appreciate and love " Were you there when they crucified my Lord "
Well .....................then he should learn to appreciate a little Hee Hee Hee ha ha HEY HEY -
don't you think?
You should see how quickly I can paint a piece of furniture listening to this kind of music blasting.
John says - When you're finished - could you make me a tea please...............
Suzan says - dancing out of the room - Sure - I'll bring the buck buck bucket down - whah whah whah
John says - NOW YOU SOUND LIKE A DUCK
John says - Just one morning - I'd give anything for just ONE NORMAL MORNING...................
John yells - You ARE NOT playing that music outside in the summer !!!!!!!
( I had an Uncle that sang this to absolute perfection -
Bonus points if any of you knew which song I was talking about
And this is what I painted ( mostly to this type of music ) You can hate it but you can't deny it's energy
Man can this song get me going - seriously ! If you're at work DON'T blast this - if you're at home, go for it - this songs needs to be LOUD
Another treasure found on CL -
Solid? Yes
Functional? Yes
Boring ? Yes
I decided this needed to be lightened up - too dark and foreboding - it came from a Church and it looks like it's about to give a sermon on Fire and Brimstone - and it smells of incense like you wouldn't believe...............A good dose of shallac can take care of the odor ( or 2 ) and a good painting can take care of the rest :)
I painted it with Annie Sloan's Old White - and added a little detail to the doors -
Then I distressed - using a sander and by hand until it was just the way I wanted it
I painted the handles in place ( pulling an Annie Sloan here )
Then I decided to add a little to the inside!
I did the stripes in different directions for even more of a little surprise
I like the little bit of wood showing in them - because that's the only place any wood is left on her!
Here's one I did a couple of years ago - aren't they fun?
ok - back to the buffet
I painted the interior cupboards with a pale yellow I had on hand ( just latex paint, shhhh, so I'll have to seal it with some polyurethane )
and while that was drying - I attacked the doors
She wants to show you her backside ( something she could NEVER do in Church )
( that's why the lady is a tramp ♪♫♪♪ )
how many songs can I fit into one post? ohhh probably just about as much as the nonsense I can fill it with.
Well...................♪ she never picked cotton like her Mama did - and her Brother did and her Sister did and her Daddy died young ( working in the coal mine ) ♪
OK - FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SKIPPED THE NONSENSE - HERE'S THE MAKEOVER -
BEFORE
AFTER
John says - Oh look, there's a line outside
Suzan says - Huh?
Suzan says - Don't tell me - An electric wire's down?
John says - No - A LINE - For your performance
LMHO - really - he keeps me in stitches!
I just put it on full blast as I'm getting ready to sign off - John immediately got up from his desk and left the office - mumbling something about living in a madhouse.............
Soda promptly followed him.
The two of them need to lighten up.
Cha cha cha !
P.S. - I'm giggling here by myself picturing some of your horrified reactions to Mule Skinner Blues -
really - LMHO -
This is the type of thing that keeps me blogging LOL
Have a great day :)
P.S.S. and if you want to see the controversy that painting furniture can stir up - check out my post on Hometalk HERE - whoa there's some angry people out there !

Country bench
Good morning everyone
I picked this up some time ago - but with everything that's been going on in my world - reno's - disastrous discoveries etc - she just sat in the dining room patiently awaiting her makeover -
In order to escape a little of my reality I decided to get lost in a makeover - a quick one - but a makeover none the less
Seller's photo
and now
I added a few " country " words - and that Hen towel? Tina from What we Keep created and sent me
I can't use it - I simply can't - it's too pretty ( what IS wrong with me? )
Hens and eggs - get it - got it ? Good !
I can't use these either - which Dani from Frugal ain't Cheap sent me -
I'm even too scared to leave them out on display in case John uses them LMHO -
And just as I was finishing up, look what arrived !!!!!!!!!!
and the new window is here too !!!
Oh my gosh - it's close now folks - it ohsoclose to being finished ( the kitchen that is - the rest of the place is still vomit inducing )
In the meantime my country bench is " fait accomplis "
And she's saying Merci ! ( she's a bilingual bench don't you know - she advertises in English but she speaks in French )
Annie Sloan Pure White
