I plan on painting them - and reupholstering them.
Myself.
I haven't told John
I can't tell John
He's going to hit the roof.
And we really can't afford a new roof this year.
The end.
P.S. He knows about this now - he didn't quite hit the roof
But it was close - it was oh so close ( I promised him it would be painted and listed within a week )
I'm afraid those 2 chairs will send him right through it

Nice chairs!! I would have bought them too, but then we've established that I have NO self control when it comes to furniture (or anything else come to think of it) :-)) Just a thought, if you were wanting the fabric in a dove grey you could look at painting the upholstery? I have been playing around with Annie Sloan on chairs because it's SO much cheaper and easier than reupholstering. Best results so far; cleaning the fabric and leaving it damp before applying slightly diluted paint, letting it dry then lightly sanding it. Next applying slightly more diluted paint and sanding when dry (you can repeat this as often as needed but if the original fabric is light coloured and you're painting a shade darker, two usually does it) Finally I wax it and the result is a bit like canvas or very thin leather depending on the texture of the fabric. I've also been stencilling or spraying through lace before waxing to add a bit of interest and they have been flying out of the shop - happy days...
ReplyDeleteOh I'm all over the place with what I want to do here - I've painted fabric on chairs before - and that is of course a possibility ( a strong one actually ) and yes they do feel like canvas after - but now I'm thinking drop cloth - with ASCP French linen on the frame - I'll have a thousand ideas before I actually do them LOL

you are such a naughty girl! But those chairs are going to be so pretty! Glad you found something to do....I know you're bored. LOL!
ReplyDeletePerfectly lovely chairs. Arrange to pick them up when he goes to bed. Tell the seller you do shift work at Tim Horton's, then shove them in the back of the garage. ; ) Patty
ReplyDeleteYou are in my prayers!!! Remember that when he hits the roof, skylights work wonders for filling in the hole.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I WANT a skylight upstairs - maybe that's where I should tell him about them ?

love painting the upholstery on chairs. I started one last year (or more) and really need to get back to it and finish. so many objects needing painting, so little time.
ReplyDeleteLovin' your chairs..treat John nice cause we don't want that head of his going thru ANYthing.:)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do live dangerously. And I LOVE it!!!!!! Oh, and good luck to you, when you tell
ReplyDeleteJohn about the chairs, Maybe you could just place them someplace in a room where they look good, and he won't notice them...Sure, you could do that...that would work, (or not) just saying, anyway.... Hugs to you, Bonnie in WI
IF he ever starts reading your blog you are in deep, deep doo-doo. LOVE those chairs- I would have bought them, too. lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDuring my blogging time I've been fortunate enough to glean pearls of wisdom from my fellow bloggers with a few more years life experience than I, my favourite pearl of wisdom is this, " it's easier to as forgiveness than to ask permission" I love the chairs :)
ReplyDeleteYes, someone is there... Those chairs are wonderful. I wish I could find some like that!
ReplyDeleteSuch a rebel!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh girl....I do hope you can accomplish your projects and the new chairs sort of slide under the radar. ;)
