Approaching Lavender....................

If you'd like to spend an afternoon approaching Lavender
You'll feel fine but one thing's sure, you'll never feel the same

If you'd like to try your hand at understanding Lavender
Then you must be very sure that life is not a game

You might even learn a thing or two approaching Lavender
You'll soon be on a one night tour forgetting your own name

You won't need a reason just to be alone with Lavender
For the light so warm & pure will draw you like a flame

The colors that surround you there will be a shade of Lavender
Shadows dancing everywhere like flowers in the rain

You will find your tongue's on fire while laying next to Lavender
With words you never spoke before and will not speak again

Oh sweet Lavender, I understand you perfectly
There is no way that I can see you living by yourself

Oh sweet Lavender, I must be with you constantly
Your presence means so much to me, much more than life itself

Oh sweet Lavender, as fragrant as the name you bear
Please cast away the clothes you wear

If you'd like to spend an afternoon approaching Lavender
Don't try and get the best of her, she will not share the blame
If you'd like to try your hand at understanding Lavender
Then you must be very sure that life is not a game.

PRAYING someone will actually want to approach Lavender and take her off my hands!!!!!!!

I think Gordon Lightfoot should buy it, personally.

Before and after French Provincial

Sometimes on these 70's dressers you'll find that the molding is actually plastic

I much prefer the wood variety - snob that I am - even though I'm slathering

them in paint !!!

So the first thing I did was paint in between all those " criss crosses " as well as the 4 flowers

in each corner with black craft paint - so there would be some contrast in the details

if you look at the photo above you can barely tell it exists even

 I wasn't overly careful at this stage as  you can see because you really want

to be sure to get " in " those lines

It can all be fixed up once the white goes over it

and here's how it looks once a coat of white covers everything

much better, don't you think?

I did the same thing to the drawers

isn't it amazing what white paint can do?

The interior is painted a baby blue

What's new pussycat?

( does anyone else see a cat's face on this? )

woah woah

 Sometimes you have to work with what you have

and I really do believe that anything can look better

Even 70's furniture with plastic molding

that looks like a cat when you squint your eyes

Cats DO NOT belong in landfills either

Her Crowning Glory ( and another one arrived )

Good morning all!

I finally finished the mirror that goes with the princess

I had this old mirror that I've tried to imagine on many many pieces - but it was usually just a little too large
( this dresser is wider then it appears )

Suzan says - John where's that shield shaped mirror
John says - Aw come on - you're not going to stick that on top of this dresser?
John says - You'll ruin it
John says - I don't know why you bought it - it looks like a horses A$$
Suzan says - can you bring it upstairs please?

Now those of you with eyes that actually work - will notice the 2 sides are not the same on the bottom part of my mirror -
Being someone who's eyes DO NOT work - I never noticed it - even as I painted it - I never noticed it until the next day actually -
How is that possible, you ask?
I don't have a clue - but it's a little scary, don't you think?

It was a very quick fix - John sawed off some wood on one side to make them the same...........

ahhh that's better - now what do you think - I personally think it looks like a crown
and not what John thinks at all - who's on my side on this one?

and we picked up this pretty little thing

As I type this I haven't seen it in person yet -
but I couldn't resist...............

Here's the story............

Of a lovely lady................

who was bringing up 2 very lovely girls

both of them were black and white - just like their mother
the youngest one with swirls...............

THIS was the reason I decided to go black and white on this set - I thought it would tie in nicely with a  crisp black french graphic

If you're looking for a lazy quick way to get a dark color in the crevices of fancy molding -
I usually paint the moldings black first

then paint the white over it - leaving it showing through as much ( or as little ) as you like
in this photo I still needed touch up the white here and there - but you get the idea

Now I'm hoping that this lady meets a fellow

What?
Did you think I'd start the week off without leaving some sort of lame song in your brain for the day?
Uh Uh - no way - not me!

The Painful Beginning

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I was going through some old posts last night  of furniture to add to a board on Pinterest and nearly peed my pants looking at some of them.

Can you remember starting your first job when you were younger - and not knowing what in God's name you were doing?

Can you remember that feeling of being completely alone in a new world?

Can you remember trying to figure out where you fit in - which group seemed most like you?

Can  you remember trying to look very very busy and efficient when the whole time your brain 

was trying frantically to make sense of things that were completely alien and foreign to you?

That's exactly what my first 6 months of blogging were like - 

I had no voice - absolutely none - 

My posts showed no reflection of my character whatsoever

Flat.

I was struggling to find my place in a world where literally hundreds of thousands of people had got there before me - I'm always late to a party.

So I wrote my posts - I uploaded my photos - and ambled along that way for quite awhile.

No one came.

No one commented.

No one knew I was alive.

AND

then one day it happened

I found my voice 

my ridiculous

bizarre

over 

the 

top 

voice

that I was too afraid to use in the beginning

And the magic happened

People actually came by 

they commented

they showed so much love that I was overwhelmed

and my blog grew

  I feel so connected to every single one of you 

that loyally come by day after day 

even when I'm overwhelmed and can't get back to you as soon as I should.

We're almost at 700 followers 

and that means we're almost at another give away 

Unless I just stay at 696 forevah

and that would be so over the moon ok with me!

The below is one of those posts from my anonymous days

I get to repost it because I was anonymous then lol

and I actually may start reposting some of the other things I did

from time to time.

If anyone were to ask me for advice today on blogging 

the thing I would shout off the rooftops is this

FIND YOUR OWN VOICE

and use it

every day

It won't be for everybody 

Some people won't like your voice 

They'll come 

and then they'll go 

But eventually people will find you

and surprisingly they'll like your voice

and for the most part they are the one's who

stay

for those of you that have stayed I can't tell you how very dear you've become to me

And lastly 

 Here's a post from the old days - the dressers pretty nice 

the post is boring as hell lol

( and I had to redo all the photos to watermark them because I had no idea how to do that back in the day )

and the collage?

I made that up today also lol

The dresser was first painted Old White - and then Paris Grey was lightly dry brushed over the surface

to give it layered old " worn " look

Such beautiful details - and the colors make the details stand out - I painted the
wooden handles in both of the colors - white - then the gray in the middle - and
then sanded them to expose some of the original wood color.  Hope she
sells as quick as the last one, do not want to have to look at her for too long or
I may never be able to say goodbye ;(

my greedy hands on the paint before I remembered!!
