A little change in the kitchen !

I've wanted to add a curtain panel on a lower cabinet for awhile now - but because they're new cabinets I felt wrong drilling holes into them for the hardware ( translation - I think that would be the straw that broke John's back )

So I simply bought a spring tension rod and used that instead -
I haven't even removed the door yet because I wasn't even sure if I'd like it

But I do !
I think I like it !
( I'm a little bit country )

The rings are too big for this purpose - I have to find smaller ones ( or get creative )
And I haven't even  removed the door because I may not like it tomorrow

Again I used a tablecloth - I simply folded it in half and the best part of that is?
I can whip it off when we're having supper LMHO !!!

What do you think?

Suzan says - Do you like it?
John says - I think it's better if I don't say anything at all
Suzan says - You don't like it?????
John says - Who hangs a table cloth on a cabinet door?
Suzan says - Half of the blogmosphere, that's who
John says - You all scare me

Here's the table cloth on the door in case you've forgotten - he shakes his head every time he walks by it.

I won't tell him I've just ordered another one from Amazon.....................but I may wrap MYSELF in the next one LOL

I found this jug over the holidays - and he doesn't get why I'm keeping wooden spoons in something
that's clearly meant for WATER either.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone -
( by the way - I'm a little bit rock & roll too )
Big hugs,
Me

I WANNA live there Wednesday # 110

Good morning everyone !

Last week a friend/reader sent me a link to an amazing house for sale in her area - and I knew I had to post it this week !
It's out of this world and filled to the brim with architectural beauty -
Thanks so much Cheryl !

1,250.000
6 beds
3 full baths - 2 half baths
6,353 sq. feet
Year built - 1903
Realtor:  NANCI CAFLISCH

A million two hundred and fifty thousand !!!
Did I mention it includes all of this?

Property details

Property Details

Own a Piece of History.. The Ringling Mansion! A total of 4 parcels including the main home with over 6000 sq ft, a vacant lot, a 2 bdrm Cottage and the Carriage house with living quarters. The mansion boasts leaded glass windows, solid wood flrs and trim, large kitchen, butler pantry, 6 bdrms, a grand foyer and stairway, living rm, music rm, library with solid wood built ins. This property would be an incredible B & B, reception facility or museum. The possibilities are endless.

I love this wide hallway ( you could have a party in this space alone ) the details on the baluster's and those beams
( John loves the Grandfather clock )

Check out that built in with the arched window !

I'd have to paint all the millwork white -
John and I argued over that ( if we don't find anything to argue about in our reality - sometimes we'll resort to fantasy )

This plaster ceiling looks just the ones in our last house!

Fireplace heaven !

Loving how sunlight floods this home !

Upstairs landing

I agree with the realtor - this would make an incredible B & B -  it should be enjoyed by as many people as possible, don't you think?

Again Cheryl - thanks so much for sharing the link to this beauty !
Have a wonderful day all

Me

Painted Fireplace Unit !

Good morning everyone !

I'm done
or IT'S done
And this just may be the year of Black for me or charcoal - I think I may be done with whites for awhile !
I'm loving the Restoration Hardware look of this piece :)
( I see a red door and I want to paint it black )
Am I aging myself again?

Black distressed furniture

I originally bought this to make as a built in for the dining room - but we're not ready to tackle that room yet so decided to keep it in the 3 season porch for the rest of the winter.

However - I once again had a change of heart

Suzan says - I'm thinking this piece would be perfect for the den
John says - WHAT?
John says - We already installed a mantel that you had to have in there
Suzan says - So what?  That can easily be uninstalled !
John says - Where the hell are you going to put that one?
Suzan says - Maybe in the dining room when we finish it !
Suzan says - AND I'm not even sure if I want it there - I just want to see it there first
John says - And if you don't like it - we have to drag it back out and reinstall the other one?
Suzan says - Something like that, yeah
John says - IT'S AN INSANE ASYLUM - I'M TELLING YOU I COULD HAVE YOU COMMITTED
John says - I'm NOT moving things around just to see if it works - who the hell does that ?
John says - You always say I have no vision - what's happened to yours all of sudden?
John says - This thing weighs a ton
John says - Yadda Yadda Yad.............................

I actually waited till he went out - and started the process on my own -
I disassembled the mantel

and brought the beast in on my own

after taking off the back piece - removing the doors - and taking the fireplace insert out so that I could actually move it ( inch by painful inch )

and guess what?

It's staying !
( thank God - because I really didn't want to take it back out and drag the mantel back in - this painting heavy furniture business is exhausting I tell ya ! )

But it fits the room perfectly - especially against the plank wall

Painted Black and Distressed

It has a pull out shelf which is such a bonus - the room is so tiny that I'm sure this will be used !
( it still needs another coat of paint on that shelf - I wasn't going to show you but what the .................. )

I painted the interior with chalkboard paint - and stencilled a design on it with a chalk pen

It's what this room needed - though I didn't know it until I actually saw it in there

Painted, black, distressed

John says - It looks like a rain forest in here
John says - Why in God's name are there tree limbs on the wall?
Suzan says - I was going to hang the Picasso but I couldn't find it anywhere
Suzan says - IF YOU WANT TO SIT IN HERE AND WATCH HOCKEY GAMES - YOU HAVE TO GIVE ME AT LEAST ONE COMPLIMENT ON THIS THING !!!!!!!!!!!
John says - I'm going to look for a monkey to hang off one of them.
Suzan says - Could you get me a sock monkey?  I LOVE them

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone !

Much love
Me

A Friday chat ( about this & that )

We got a pony !
And a goat !
Well my daughter's Vet asked if we could keep them for a month or so - they're just babies and really just too cute for words.

John says - THEY'RE NOT STAYING IN THE HOUSE
Suzan says - They're just babies
John says - WHO'S GOING TO PICK UP THEIR #*&(@@#

Soooooo - I cleared out the mud room off the kitchen - filled it with hay and that's where they live.
It stinks in there but I'm so overcome with love I can't stand it

I make them their dinners which consists of this

Cheerios
Raisins
Carrots
Dog Biscuits
Broccoli
Rice

All mixed up in a giant bowl and served cold - they LOVE it !

Than my daughter told me I was over feeding them and they should only get half a cup at each feeding - and only 2 feedings a day -
" the Vet wants to stunt their growth - kind of the same concept as a bonsai tree "

WTH kind of vet is this exactly - I'm not doing it - I'm going to keep on feeding them what I feel animals of their size should eat.

I'm closer to the pony but try not to show it - I don't want the goat to end up with an inferiority complex after all.

When I'm not busy with them I've been taking down all the light fixtures in the house and converting them so that they hold candles instead of light bulbs.
John's furious - says we need electric light.

AND THEN I WOKE UP

John says - No one on this planet has dreams like you - they're completely abnormal
Suzan says - How do you know what people dream - is this something you ask them?
John says - I just know it - yours are...........well yours are insane
Suzan says - Well I have no control over them for crying out loud
Suzan says - Come to think of it you never share your dreams - what do you dream about ?
John says - I don't dream.................

Therein lays our problem I would think.

I have a hard time using the word " ain't "
I feel like a rebel when I do - but it's always a conscious decision to say it - it doesn't come naturally to me at all - even if I think it's kind of cool..............
There was a time when people were scolded for saying it - " ain't isn't a word " or at least I was.
BUT - now it is a word - it's in the dictionary after all - and if I want to use it - ain't nobody going to tell me I can't ...................
Cuz I'm cool.

We all know that China's taking over North America - that's no secret
We also know that both our governments have sold us out in order to allow that to happen...............

But sometimes we're just as stupid as our government..................

There was a town for sale in British Columbia - ( which is one of the most beautiful provinces in Canada )

A. TOWN. FOR SALE.
In a province where housing costs have gone ridiculously through the window - this entire TOWN was for sale for under 1 million.
You can't buy a shack for that price ( and I'm dead serious - take a look at this HERE )

photo - Johnlovelace.com

Did a Canadian step up to the plate and purchase it?
Did a GROUP of Canadians grab it as an incredible investment - with plans to fix it up and turn it into a tourist attraction?
Even you Americans didn't bother  ( we could have all chipped in and had a blog fest or something  )
Could you see all of us DIY'ers running all over the place - creating creating creating?

Nah................too much work I guess.

Here in Montreal we've been drowning in language laws for the last 40 years - French / English
You.  Must.  Parlez.  Francais.
Even if you're English -
All of our elections seem to revolve around this -
I have news for everyone -
In the not too distant future, the only 2nd language any of us will have to learn - will be Chinese.

我们很愚蠢

The fireplace unit I'm working on has been the most challenging piece to date - I made some pretty dumb decisions which came back to bite me - BUT - I'm almost there - a little " tweaking " left to do with sand paper and I can call her done
I'm letting you guys see it first - before I actually write up a post - and try to get at least one decent photo -

Ok - gotta run - that Pony and Goat ain't gonna feed themselves.................

You all have a wonderful weekend !
Much love

Good morning everyone !

Not posting much this week because this beast has taken up far more of my time than I anticipated!

Almost there

but not quite ...................

the doors are the wrong color - long story - but have to fix that !

I should have been finished this in a day - but I ran into a couple of snags and I've basically done this twice.
( I hate snags )

Have a wonderful day everyone
I'll be back tomorrow for a " chat "
Hugs,
Me
