A Christian Couple - A Gay son.......

A story of deeply devout Christians parents of a Gay son.
For anyone out there who is struggling with Gay Marriage - please please please
take a moment to listen to the parents of a Gay son - who used their faith to try
to " heal " him - and once he was gone - used their faith to understand.

No matter which side of the fence you sit on - one fact stands out above all else - Life is short - sometimes it's far far too short - some lives are filled with grief and despair - to think we, as a society, contribute to that is just unbearable for me.
It's a global issue it seems - people are either FOR or AGAINST - but we're mere mortals - we are not kings and judges and almighty Beings and although I know that no one actually means harm in their opinions  harm is done.................irrevocably in some cases.
Sometimes by strangers who have no idea what it's like to walk in another's shoes - sometimes by family and close friends - and all too often by parents - unknowingly.
This is as real a video as you're ever going to see -
I know most of you enough to know that you will be heartbroken by it - but I think it's important to watch.

Ryan's parent's message is a message that needs to be heard - please take some time out of your busy day to listen to their voices....................

Whatever your thoughts are - you cannot be unaffected by this and we owe it to
ourselves - to the Gay community and to a young man's eloquent
parents  to listen to this story - but mostly we owe it to:

Ryan Robertson - passed away July 10 - 2009 at age 20
Gone too soon.

And above all - let us be reminded to love unconditionally...................................
EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. OF. OUR. LIVES.
Just because they breathe.....................

  3. I have a son who is 20. That's so, so young, way too young to be gone. What a heartbreak, Suzan.

  4. "Simply love...and leave the rest up to Him" Words to live by for anyone who believes in God. Simply love. "God is not wringing his hands over this..." He surely isn't. There are so many profound statements made by these parents; so many wonderful words of wisdom.

This is a heartbreaking video, and we can learn a lot from it. I was managing to keep it together as I listened to their painful story...until they started that slideshow toward the end. Some souls are here for a short period of time to teach us something very important. Like this young man. Hopefully we have learned something valuable from this story.

    Thanks for sharing this, Suzan.

  5. Once I started watching I could not look away. My heart aches for those parents. Even though I am a Christian I have never felt that it is my duty, or responsibility, to judge someone. Each person's life is between that person and their Maker. The last 15 minutes of that film I could not stop crying...living every person's worst nightmare thru their eyes. Thank you, Suzan, for finding this. If just one person watches that here and it changes their actions/reactions to someone in their life you have provided a great service. I do think you posted that here today for someone/somewhere even though you many never know who it helped. Good job! xo Diana

  8. I know a wonderful couple who are Catholics and very practicing and have a gay son, who is a wonderful son and human being. They also trusted God and the Catholic faith and overcame it. The family is all happy and I admire them so much and believe in God much more, cause look at all the LOVE from God here! Homosexuality is hereditary, as blue eyes, as black hair, as color of skin, so that's all one has to know. What a touching and amazing story. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed week.

  9. Thank you for posting this, My husband and I left the church we used to go to and this was a big reason why. We felt such hate coming from the speakers, who would stand up and talk about sin, and about who's kids were gay and how they did not really have contact with them any longer because of it. I love my kids and know that God made us all just like he wanted us to be.
I wish more people could just open there hearts.

  10. Hi Suzan - you may or may not know, but my daughter is gay and recently engaged to the love of her life, a wonderful woman who's family is devout Catholic. And yet, they embraced my Lisa - making her godmother to one of the grandchildren in the family and taking her to meet their aunt who is a nun. Now they are embracing this marriage of two people who love each other immensely. God says to love one another, God says to embrace love. Thank you for sharing this video.....there are so many good Christians out there struggling to understand how they can love their God and yet allow themselves to accept something that they are taught is "wrong".

As my daughter says to me all the time "love is love". I'm glad she found love. it doesn't matter to me that she found it with a woman. I'm happy to see my children happy.

If you haven't seen this video, take a moment.......it says so much.

  12. One of my dearest friends is struggling with the new knowledge that her 20 year old son is bi-sexual....he has now broken relationship with them. My heart aches for all of them. I may share this with my friend, although she is very wary of my 'liberal views'. BUt I'm afraid for her son, a dear friend of my own daughters....timely, thanks for sharing it.

  13. I'm crying, whatever your beliefs hate is hate and never helps, too many people are dying for hate. Now I'm going to kiss my children and make sure they know that I will love them always no matter what.

  14. We left our church when the deacons started handing out books on "healing" people of homosexuality. Our society has come a long way toward understanding this issue, but there is still so much more to do. This is especially true with transgender issues.

Nothing is black and white in our world, not skin coloring, intelligence, height. Why would we expect that sexuality could only be one or the other?

  15. Wow Suzan I am speechless and filled with tears and heartache for the parents and family. I can't imagine the feelings they have...such a heavy feeling. Thank God they have God in their lives and they have focused on taking something negative to help others. Such a powerful message through their afflictions. Thank you for sharing :)

  17. I was so overcome with love for this couple. They are in my thoughts. It is very hard to lose a child no matter what the age. I know from personal experience. Although it is from different circumstances, it is still very hard. You take kids church, teach them right from wrong, who to trust, teach them to act like little Ladies and Gentlemen, etc, etc. etc.
Funny thing is you don't think about the mate they might take. What's worse... there is nothing taught about males being the abused vs being the abuser. Our son was murdered at the age of 26, by his wife. Please let your kids know about this, it is real.

    1. Oh Lily Anne - I'm so sorry to read this- it's true, we don't hear about that at all - it's always the women who are portrayed as victims............
My son was in a terrible relationship for awhile - thank God he got out - because she was very very dangerous..........

  18. Suzan. I watched this video late last night and this morning, it was the first thing I thought about. Very powerful on so many levels. I almost stopped watching at one point thinking it was another story of Christianity gone bad. More judgmental ugliness in the name of the Lord. But I'm glad I kept on reading because despite the heartbreaking end for Ryan ...it was a story of hope. I feel hopeful that these parents are trying to go out into the world and share their realization that being gay as they said, 'is not a deal-breaker' when it comes to God. As a parent, I can't imagine a more unloving response to my son than to spend years trying to change him. I feel very sad when I think about the aloneness and terrible guilt Ryan lived with for so long, but bless his parents for sharing their experience with others. And thanks dear friend for spreading the love.

  22. Oh, Suzan, thank you so much for sharing this message. I have wept while watching, and yet, now I feel "fired up" to help people SEE in their hearts that "love is love". I agree with Diana above, that if just one person is changed by watching this, what a wonderful thing that could be. I have also allowed negative gay sentiments to keep me from church, and this video has mobilized me to change myself! God bless you for sharing...I will be sharing as well.
