I've been giving this a lot of thought lately - and that in and of itself is quite frightening to be honest with you.
Danni, from SILO HILL FARM and I were talking and I mentionned that I was going to take 2 weeks off from painting soon - and she said - " bet you can't do it "
And I thought " what kind of a response is that ?"
And then it dawned on me - that she thinks I physically cannot NOT paint LMHO..............
Funny funny stuff...................
Until I thought about it for a bit - and I realized something.
I don't think I can do it - I really don't think I could go 2 weeks without painting something -
HOW SICK IS THAT????????????????
How the hell does one get addicted to painting furniture - and even more importantly how does one wean herself off from this so called addiction?
It's not like they have Painters Anonymous
There's no 12 step program
There aren't any halfway houses that I'm aware of either ( and I'd probably end up painting them anyway )
Next one up is this one - I'm starting it tonight........................
It's a dessert table.......................a very very old dessert table,
From the Titanic!!!
No, not really - but it does have some history.................
My name is SUZAN SWEATMAN and I AM a paintaholic...................
Feel free to pin the button below if you need a little " help " as well

Well when there are pieces just crying out to be painted, what can you do?
ReplyDeleteDanni is usually spot on ! Lol.. even I could have told you, you are an addict {after seeing some "weird" hairdo's from you!} But, I can't wait to see how you turn the not-Titanic-but-but-some-history dessert table into something fab !
ReplyDeleteMy goodness Suzan. I visited here via A Year From Oak Cottage. Even your signature looks like mine. I look forward to learning so much more about you and your life.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Suzan
Suzan - just read the comment above and I thought for just a moment, when I saw the signature, that it was me! LOL! (Remember last Friday when you thought I was someone new?!)
ReplyDeleteSo...let's talk about your painting addiction. I truly cannot imagine you not painting for a week, much less two. At the very least you will be stroking the furniture and IMAGINING that you are painting it!
Well if you have to have an addiction I say painting is a harmless one. LOL Maybe you should hire yourself out and make some extra money from it, and then it won't be an addiction it will be a job.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! If we lived close to each other we could start a group...with meetings...with drinks...and our drink stirrers could be little paint brushes. Hey, that doesn't sound like a problem, sounds like fun to me! Love the sign...pinning.
ReplyDeleteYou're a scream! There are worse vices than making the world a prettier place.
ReplyDeleteha! ha! I knew it! It's in your blood Suzan...seriously..your blood type is A...for Annie Sloan! Really Suzan, you are so lucky to love what you do and it shows in your work and your writing. I hope you never stop! Thanks for the shout-out and I bet you have a brush in your hand right now.
ReplyDeleteYep...that's you!
ReplyDeleteAnd...I am NOT surprised because???????????????
ReplyDeleteWhen all else fails-paint John! xo Diana
ps. Can't wait to see that sweet little dessert table painted!
I'm howling as I read this while drinking my morning coffee. BTW, that's an ADORABLE piece of furniture!! Please move to my neighborhood so I can buy from you!!!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
LOL - too funny. You can do it, sometimes a break is good for creativity purposes!!
ReplyDeletei wish you lived here. I keep seeing great stuff at the goodwill that needs tlc and I think, Suzan would make this look great. Then I walk by! I need to paint.
ReplyDeleteWhat a riot!! I bet you can do it!
ReplyDeleteDo not bet any money on that bet Katie ( just saying )
DeleteXOXOXO
If there were a half way house you'd be in very good company! :)
ReplyDeleteCute post! there are worse additions....I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteSigned,
the blonde enabler...
As long as I'm not drinking it ( yet ) I suppose LOL
DeleteXOXO
And meanwhile there's a nightstand in my garage hollering "Paint me, paint me!" and nary a paintbrush comes to it's aid.
ReplyDeleteFor two seconds I believed the Titanic gig. I think I need a vacation.
The first step is admitting you have a problem. Congratulations. :)
ReplyDelete-andi
That's is so funny,I just took 3weeks vacation and before the trip, I seriously thought that I'd go crazy without painting.....but hey, I was ok!
ReplyDeleteI actually did not miss it, having too much fun in Quebec City & Saguenay region.
Good luck with your addiciton! :)
Did you get to come down to Montreal - you were SO close :)
DeleteBut Quebec City is beautiful - at least you have a built in translator Sayuri!!!
XOXO
How funny! Hey I don't think there's anything wrong with this "addiction" at all...as a matter of fact I kind of wish I had just a touch of this illness!
ReplyDelete-Khammany
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! You crack me up. I can't wait to see what you do with that table. It is in some SERIOUS need of love and attention!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
So cute! I love the dessert table, but I have to bet against you on this one.
ReplyDeleteIt's be painted by midnight! LOL
Hugs,
Patti
You are so stinkin' funny! I think I enjoy that part of your blog even more than seeing your beautiful PAINTED creations...:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Vicky
Life On Willie Mae Lane
LOL Vicky - please says it's my painted creations - I'm not that funny!!!!!!!!!
DeleteXOX
well, if you are, is that so bad? I can think of worse addictions. :) We all need our happy place!
ReplyDeleteThat dessert table needs your special touch - get to it! Can't wait to see it.
hugs,
Cecilia
Oh, Suzan! You always put a smile on my face :) Hey, it's not such a bad addiction. At least you're producing something really beautiful! I say just keep on at it. What the heck. We all need something to keep us sane.
ReplyDeleteLol! It is what it is!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are, always a treat seeing your transformations!!! But tat is the only "---aholic" allowed, LOL!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
what does John say about you being a paintaholic? :) ...wait...maybe I don't really want to know...maybe
ReplyDeleteIt's your work, and you love your work. That's a good thing. We should all be so lucky as to have a passion for what we to that earns us money.
ReplyDeleteAnd ahhahahahhaha to Danni's 'Type A' as in Annie Sloan comment. buwahahhaha
hilarious, and yes, I had to pin it!!
ReplyDeleteAs long as you use natural paint, I don't think this addiction is bad for your health, though it might be bad for your marriage! Knowing when to paint or not is the hardest, I believe.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm Little-White-Houe-aholic. Seriously, I'm visiting my mother and I feel a little sick from leaving the house and all that needs to be done inside (painting being one of the things).
That is hilarious. When you start making up excuses to leave the house at night so you can go score some furniture to paint, you know you REALLY have a problem. lol
ReplyDeleteNo control Betsy - I have absolutely NO CONTROL lmho
DeleteXOXO
If you take the cure and develop the 12 step program you could tour the world and offer help to others.
ReplyDeleteHa! And we also need a hoarders anonymous 12 step program. Or not. It could be worse, you know. We could be addicted to twinkies.
ReplyDeleteI am a paintaholic for sure . . . but I don't WANT help!!! Love the button Suzan. Blessings, Patti
ReplyDeleteLove this quote! I don't paint furniture, but it applies to a lot of different obsessions we all have.
ReplyDeleteI am here laughing with tears running down my face. You are too much and I love it. I am STILL behind in my blog reading/writing. Still waiting for our pool to be finished----now we just want to swim before it has to be closed for the winter...yikes.....your dessert table looks lovely.
