THIS IS WHAT WINTER LOOKS LIKE

The North East States had a blizzard this week
Now maybe I'm being a bit cocky because it completely bypassed Montreal ( for a change )
BUT - I can't believe the 24 hour ( + ) coverage that went on about a winter storm ( key word being WINTER )

Snowmageddon?

Nah...............c'mon guys, it's a winter snow storm - it's not a phenomenal occurrence - it's a perfectly natural one.
My heart aches for those that lose power - because that's no picnic ( believe me I know )
But other than that?
Take the day off if you have to - but also take a moment to peek outside - OR better yet take a walk in it -because it can truly be a magnificent site to behold !

I had to giggle when all the reporters were spreading panic and they stopped someone on the street - and they just shrugged and said " it's winter "  leaving the reporter looking a little defeated LOL

  1. We have no snow down in South Carolina today. I certainly enjoyed seeing your beautiful snow pictures!

  2. We are getting it right now, and yes, it's a snow storm... that does happen in the winter! LOL

  3. The 24/7 coverage of a snowstorm does get annoying. Anything that happens on the east coast is a huge deal, if you go by the major news outlets. I'm sure most of them couldn't find Wisconsin on a map if they had to.

  4. Lol! I totally agree with you Suzan! I was born and raised in Iowa and this is nothing new, the media blows everything out of proportion. As a matter of fact, I miss one of those crippling snowstorms that I was used to in Iowa. I live in Ohio now and this is nothing! I wouldn't live anywhere where I couldn't have my winter snow fix:) Stay warm.......it's winter!!

  5. That's exactly what I was thinking - It's Winter! Lastnight someone was complaining about it being cold and snowy...and I said It's Winter! And it's a warmer and alot less snowy Winter than last year - so quit complaining! I wouldn't want winter to sock us again, like last year! I also said...We live in Michigan and Winter in Michigan is snowy and cold. If it's warm and not snowy, move to Florida!!...or someplace like that! LOL!!! Now, I hate driving in the slippery stuff...but I love watching it...and watching my 3 Pups playing in it and coming in with snowballs all over themselves!! :)

We're heading into February - it's almost over in my mind LOL - and it really hasn't been bad at all !
Soda doesn't like the snow anymore - but OMG she used to jump around in it like a bunny rabbit lol !

  7. Since I'm in the South, snow looks fun and pretty to me. It's kind of like when visitors come to our beaches and say how dreamy it must be to live here all the time. After you sweep sand out of your house and your hair frizzes in the thick humidity, you'll get a dose of reality. Not to mention living through a few hurricanes!

But I still think snow would be fun! Thanks for the photos, and stay warm!

  8. Ha Ha Suzan so true it is winter lol!!!! Snow happens!!!! We had this last year so many times with not a few inches at a time but always 12 to 15 each snow fall. I think last year in Chicago by this time we had 60+ inches of snow. It happens. I am just so happy that this amount bypassed us here in Chicago too and we are having a pretty good run of winter here this time. You crack me up I have to agree this is winter. It is unpredictable how much or when but you know it will happen so what is the big surprise!!!!

  9. I sit here with the TV on right now and they are still rambling on about the same thing over and over and over..... They're showing a car that is stuck in the snow....really? Until this weekend we didn't have a spec of snow on the ground so we really should be counting our blessings.

  10. The images are gorgeous. Seems the media has to hype every storm.

  11. They sure blow the weather out of portion, we heard storm, it's going to rain. All I heard last week that it was going to rain all week and lots of rain. LOL We are only getting 1 day of rain and that was last night and only 1/2 inch. I can remember when growing up in Ohio and we lived by Lake Erie, we would get the lake effect and sometime we would be snowed in for days. The younger generation doesn't even have a clue.
Stay warm and enjoy the snow. The pictures were beautiful.

  12. Thanks for sharing the beautiful snow pictures.
We're having 70 deg. temperatures here this week but rain for Sat. with temperatures in the 40's

  13. It got to about 45* here yesterday, with off/on sun... Very unusual for this time of year! Normal is about 20*, with a foot and a half of snow on the ground!!
Yep ~ the Weather Channel usually doesn't acknowledge that the western half of the country even exists!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. It missed us too, we got maybe a half an inch!!! I am about 50 miles west of Philadelphia and it was a BIG BUST!!! Your pictures are GORGEOUS, especially the first one.

  15. And here in Wisconsin there's no possibility of someone telling me to stay home from work today....

  16. love the winter pictures. we would love some snow down here in Texas.

  17. You must have been reading my mind. I don't know how many times they can say 'storm of the century' and still think we will believe them. It has been mighty cold, though. Just like last winter and the one before that and the one before ...

  18. Many are calling it a 'bust' but truth is most of us got bet 6-8" in NJ. Last week 5" was considered a horror ...this week people are disappointed with ONLY 6-8". Go figure...just can't make anyone happy, lol! (I am just thankful 'Blizzardgeddon' decided to head east right before hitting land! :) )

  19. Love the NY photos, especially the last one, lol! It was like the world was gonna end here in NY. You'd have thought it we never had snow before. They predicted 3 feet for us at first, and then 18-24", which we've had enough times that it wasn't so unusual. We ended up with 4 inches! Crazy weather people!

  20. I am retired and live in Ok. and it is nice here but,it has been bad where no one got out,i stayed home two days one year cause it was so bad here. I love your pictures,i love to play in the snow until my fingers get numb.I do hope no one gets hurt. You have a great day.

  22. Those pictures are beautiful but I agree with the unnecessary hype about the snow. We get that type of weather in the Midwest states too and they report it as if it's the first time we'd ever seen snow. Between the snow storm and the deflated footballs I'm wondering what has happened to intelligent reporting.

  23. It was a little over the top wasn't it? I realize a lot of snow would really hamper travel in such a large city with snow removal being an issue but the rest of us are used to it. We got 30 cm. today on top of the 20 we got Saturday night. And. We're getting another possible 20 on Saturday and again on Monday. Winter has arrived in full force here. The photos you found of NYC are truly beautiful.

  24. Hi Suzan,
Love ya pointer. So cute. The snow is gorgeous. And like you said it is Winter. I guess that's all they got...huh? I have hearing about all the panic.

  25. We were thinking the exact same thing...the weather lady on Fox News talked like the world just might come to an end....

  26. Do you have any idea how exotic those pictures seem to me? For me winter looks like wet boots and very messy hair - due to the wind, of course, it doesn't mean I don't brush my hair in winter - just wanted to make things clear before I get a negative reply ;)

  27. I think people need to be informed, but inciting panic is irresponsible. And, extremely boring. Hour after hour of news coverage on one weather event interrupts regular TV shows. Geez...let the people watch their shows if the world is going to end! Love the snowman!

  28. Well this isn't winter here in TX! As pretty as these are, I'm thankful I don't live with such beauty. ;-)
Thanks for sharing! Stay warm if this is your reality.

  29. Great post. Remember when we used to watch the weather report and it was a couple minutes long, right before the sports? Now - at least out here - we have STORM WATCH and apparently people are willing to sit glued to the couch watching video of some luckless anchor standing outside experiencing weather. Incredible.

  30. Hi Suzan!!!

    Beautiful pictures!!!

I never mention our weather to anyone back east during the winter. It just makes them mad. I miss snow and all the beauty, but, I only like it when the family is safely at home in a nice warm house and they don't have work for a few days. The perfect storm time for me.

I do remember the snow storms while living in Montreal. I always loved it and we just lived with it. I love watching the waves of storms though. I'm fascinated with water and the power it holds.

Well, stay warm and keep your woolies on!!!

    Have a great weekend!!!

Got me crazy in the mood to plant flowers. lol! NO, I won't yet, but itching to. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos with SYC. The snowman is too cute!

  36. I'm just happy that the worst predictions did not come true for most of us in New England, although friends and family on Cape Cod have had terrible devastation to their properties. Some buildings have been destroyed which sat peacefully for over 60 years. Where is the media now???? Instead of hyping up what might happen tell us the truth about what actually happened. Right now, it is sleeting on top of huge snow drifts and my daughter and new husband are unable to return from their honeymoon due to the ice storm and flight cancellations! Life could be worse I guess! :)

  37. Very pretty and almost magical photos! We receive very little snow down here which is good because we go crazy and buy out the whole grocery store and then I get cabin fever because we can't drive anywhere. But it's a lot of fun!

  38. I love your humour with the snowman doing a head stand.
    Some great winter images.
