HAIR ( flow it - show it ? )

GIVE ME A HEAD WITH HAIR
LONG BEAUTIFUL HAIR
SHINING, GLEAMING, STREAMING, FLAXEN, WAXEN
GIVE ME DOWN TO THERE, HAIR
SHOULDER LENGTH OR LONGER
HERE BABY, THERE BABY, EVERY WHERE DADDY DADDY............

Sometimes you have to be grateful for the little things really.
Quite a while back I did a post on chin hair ( HERE )

It hasn't got any better- there's still that long hair that grows unbeknownst to me - until it's basically blowing in the wind ( in fact I think I may have developed another one )

I spend far too much time worrying about hair - the ones that grow on my head - my legs - my chin - and other places not fit to mention.

LET IT FLY IN THE BREEZE AND GET CAUGHT IN THE TREES
GIVE A HOME TO THE FLEAS, IN MY HAIR
A HOME FOR THE FLEAS, A HIVE FOR THE BUZZING BEES
A NEST FOR BIRDS, THEIR AIN'T NO WORDS
FOR THE BEAUTY, SPLENDOR, WONDER OF MY HAIR

BUT - while I bitch and complain about the high maintenance of hair - and stand in front of the mirror with my tweezers blindly trying to get rid of them - and complaining about my lot in life - because why oh why do I have to have a couple of chin hairs growing out like whiskers on my face -
there's women out there that have it just a tiny bit worse............

I WANT LONG, STRAIGHT, CURLY, FUZZY, SNAGGY, SHAGGY, RATTY, MATTY
OILY, FLEECY, GREASY, SHINING, GLEAMING, STREAMING, FLAXEN, WAXEN,
KNOTTED, POLKA DOTTED, TWISTED, BEADED, BRAIDED,
POWER, FLOWERED, AND CONFETTIED,
BANGLED, TANGLED, SPANGLED................................
( AND SPAGHETTI !!! )

A woman who began sprouting thick facial hair after the birth of her child says she no longer wants to hide away and is finally embracing her beard.
Indonesian Agustina Dorman, 38, first noticed the stubble growth when she was 25, days after the birth of her first child.
Ever since she has hidden her face under a hijab whenever outside in Penaga village, Indonesia.

But the brave woman has decided to ditch the clothing and accept her condition - regardless of the stares and unwanted attention she now attracts.
Agustina - who also sports a mild moustache and chest hair - says that whenever she attempted to cut or shave the beard she experienced unbearable pain.
After several attempts to rid herself of the goatee, she was forced to let it grow.
And scared that her children - aged 19 and three - would be bullied for their mother's appearance, Agustina hid away under the hijab.
Among Indonesia's large Muslim population, Agustina could move about without attracting unwanted attention.
But she says her eldest child began to receive taunts from others who found out about their mother's unusual condition.
It led the brave mum-of-two to confront her children's tormentors by unveiling herself and freely walking around their village for the first time this week.
She hopes that through education about her condition, people will become accepting of her appearance.

  1. Now, I feel a little shallow about having mine permanently removed! I wonder why she found it painful to shave it off? She's probably right about not hiding any more. People will get used to it and that will be that.

  2. The one thing about being "a certain age" that really bothers me is the amount of MAINTENANCE! I swear, if I did not diligently maintain my eyebrows, I would look like Andy Rooney. This was not an issue in my 40's! I stand in front of the mirror - very close up - and review my face every.single.day. Tweezers and wax are my new two BFFs. While I have less hair on my legs, I now have hair in strange places...none of which are appealing! The woman in Indonesia is a brave soul. I could not face the world like that and if that makes me vain, so be it. I have made my children promise that if I end up in a nursing home, someone will maintain my face...which by then will probably be damned close to a full time job!

  4. Well there's a blast from the past that will be rolling around in my head all day...thanks for that. People gotta do what they gotta do. Me? I'm loving my epilator.

  6. Now THAT song will be replaying itself in a continuous loop over and over in my head all day. I don't know WHY I visit you unless it is because I am self-abusive (and don't know it). Anyway- that poor woman...makes plucking the stray hair-here and there- seem like nothing, doesn't it?
I wonder if there isn't a procedure that could remove it completely-I know there is laser hair removal now-probably expensive as all get out-maybe some practitioner will see her case and take pity on her and offer their services as a humanitarian gift. xo Diana--ps--Kinda like you with a mustache. It should ward off those unwanted advances at night-just sayin'

  7. Seriously, why are we women plagued with nose hairs, chin hairs, neck hairs, and nipple hairs?! Oh the humanity...

  8. I applaud her bravery and pity her for it BUT pain or no pain I would be doing any and everything to get rid of that hair. I have one that persistently grows back and I too stand with tweezers in hand until its gone. Only one of us can have facial hair and I'm leaving that to jules.

  9. I"m sorry, I think the beard on the woman is gross but to each his own I guess.

Your hair (on your head) is gorgeous!

  10. I remember my mom taking the tweezers to hers when I was a kid. I thought it was so funny. Not so funny now that I'm an adult and have the same issue! LOL!!!

  11. I saw a documentary on a family that have some rare condition of growing facial hair. I cannot imagine. I am not going to complain about the little coarse hair that has started growing under my chin.

  13. Yikes! I can't imagine any amount of pain that would prevent me from shaving that thing off. But if that's her choice then good luck and Godspeed.

    1. I can't either Betsy - but she's had children - so she understands pain - it must be seriously painful if she's not doing it - God love her................
Having said that - I'd take the pain............
      XOXO

  14. I don't get the hair issue either. I get my eyebrows waxed and all of a sudden I look at them 2 weeks later and I look like a man! Then I have the chin hair problem too. I notice it all of a sudden and it is so embarrassing. Then we have to shave every minute and then there is all the other maintenance we have to do. It gets so stupid after a while. I tell the girls at my Salon I should just put a cot in the back and live there I am there so much!!!

  15. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we just didn't care about hair. We seem to be so obsessed about it. All that tiring maintenance... I dream of a world without razor blades, wax, tweezers...sigh...

  16. Hi Suzan! What a great way to just celebrate who she is, and even be willing to go to the mat for it. What a wonderful model for her children too.

I also look down on my mustache hair (both literally and mostly figuratively!) and wonder why the heck all those hairs have 'gone rogue.' Maybe they are leading the charge??

    Love, Ceil

My kids didn't even want to get in my beat up car when they were little - can't imagine how they would have dealt with me having a beard..............

  17. Oh, my! I hate to admit it but I have a few of those very unwanted hairs! Why oh why do they grow where they're not supposed to be! :) That poor woman. She needs to have electrical hair removal! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,

  18. Haha, I'm rolling over here! My problem is my hair seems to be thinning with age, so I'll take any I can get...even if it's on my chin:) I've seen a hair remover advertised called No No I think, not sure if it works! Aging is just sooooo much fun:) Anywho, you're gorgeous and the hair on your head is so thick and fabulous!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your lovely comment on my flower crown:) I did a heart one right after that, it was trickier but turned out pretty:)

  20. Bodies are just weird. The older ya get, the weirder they get. I think you are very attractive with a few hairs sprouting from your chin-y chin chin. Mine sprout from my nip..oh forget it.

  21. Oh my! I have to admit that in my 50's the hair went from my legs to my face!I call it God's sense of humor! My eyes are going and He put hair on my face! Hummmm! Well, God bless this woman! I won't complain anymore! Thanks for sharing!

  22. First, I come from a basically hairless family - what body hair there is, is very light and sparse. Second, since I only have one white hair that pops out of my chin from time to time and is easily dealt with, why can't we just embrace facial hair? Third, my great aunt Frontice had a full mustache - never hidden, never shaved - and nobody ever even commented on it.

  23. Ok......if I had your gorgeous head of hair, I wouldn't worry about a chin hair...or two....or three. lolol

  24. Love the new mustache!
    Poor woman...she's very brave.
Sprouts drive me nuts- especially if I can't get hold of it.
Not funny to get chin hairs and lose your eyesight!
