which was the bottom part of an old T.V. armoire we had a long time ago - and wasn't sure if I should
go shabby chic with it or reupholster.....................well I sat and stared at it for a little while ( because that's what I do - I sit and stare at furniture until the idea comes to me ) and while I was sitting and staring and doing nothing I looked up at the clock on the mantel ( to see how long I had been unproductive for ) and an idea was born............
I painted a coat of old white in ASCP - and then used my " template "
traced my circle around this clock - oh at around 5 to 7 or so, lol
unless you have my clock - and my charger plate and my anchovy decoration you will not be able to
make this - so sorry..............................
this is where I work a little backwards ( did I ever mention that I always paint my ceilings last - ALWAYS - no exceptions to that rule ) so.............. most people would paint the entire top black or at least a good section of it - place their stickers on top - and then repaint the white - not me - that would be far too simple and I really enjoy messing with my brain - I find it challenging. I painted little patches where I prayed the
stickers would have enough room to go on....................( do you see my pencil lines on the inside of the circle? very picasso like right? ) Once I removed the stickers I had this....................
I wish I hadn't done that ridiculous fancy schmancy thing in the middle - overkill - anyway this
is what it came out looking like - too pristine really - so out comes the sanding paper ( that's so
worn down it's amazing I was able to sand it at all - note to self - GET SOME MORE SANDING
PAPER ) here it is sanded
make me a hurricane before I go insane it's only half past 12 but I don't care......................... |
and a couple of close ups
to use won't do .................so for now she is fait accomplis..
AVANT ( encore )
APRES
oh and then because of my OCD - I made did this one for my daughter - just reversed the colors
my son brought it to me for Sunday dinner - I know I know some moms get flowers or a bottle of
wine - but they are such thoughtless gifts, right - I mean how thoughtful can he get - he literally plucked it off the street lol - hey Mom - can you do something with this?
Yes sweetheart - I think I can - thank you very much.
Ok - time for a glass of vino -
It's 5 o'clock somewhere

Hi Suzan!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all... welcome to the Bunny Hop!
Your 'coffee table' turned out great. I have also been toying with the idea of a clock stencil or upholstering my square coffee table. Since we put our feet on it, it looks more like I will make it into a giant ottoman/table.
I like how your son was thinking of you when driving by junk on the side of the road. He picked up a pretty cool item... at least it is now, after your paint job. It looks just like an old sewing table that I have. hummm... another project?

I LOVE this! I'm a huge Jimmy Buffet fan and my daughter was born at 4:59! If I could get away with it, I would have her room decorated with "it's 5 o'clock somewhere", except she's only 2! I might steal this idea and sneak it in!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I know how hard it is to get numbers spaced right on a clock table and this is so pretty.
