Somewhere over the rainbow....................

Sub Title - what I did with an old dirty rotting piece of wood

Good morning everyone!
I've been thinking for awhile of homemade personal gifts I can give this christmas.................and for awhile even considered a piece of furniture for everyone but can you imagine trying to get all of that under the tree lol?
BUT - I've really been enjoying making signs lately - so I thought that might be a better option!

One of my daughters LOVES the song " somewhere over the rainbow " with a passion - so I came up with this ( she may incorporate it into her wedding - the song - not my art lol )

where troubles melt like lemon drops
high above the chimney tops...............................

my version of a city skyline

yup - I'll definitely be making a lot more of these - different titles - but everyone's getting a skyline lol
the next couple of photos were done through PIC MONKEY - just to see what some color added to them might look like - I love it - so will definitely do a few of them with abstract colors

do they make the black and white version look boring lol?

What do you think?
I may even start selling these on Etsy - don't know if they're marketable but I really enjoyed this project :)

  2. Wow, that is really pretty. Good job! I found your page from the blog hop and am now following you. Look forward to seeing what else you have to offer!

  3. Awesome. I love skyline anything. People may start asking you for city-specific skylines if you begin to sell them. You'd better get out your geography books.
I love it colored AND black & white.

  4. Hi Suzan!!

I really love the black and white. It has that old charm feel. I'm sure everyone who gets one will be thrilled!!

  5. I love the skyline! I agree, people will probably start requesting specific ones! You are always coming up with something unique and cool that I've never seen before. :)

  6. Hi Suzan these are great and yes I think you should put them on etsy..make heaps of money and put John in his place ha ha ha -love dee PS you made me laugh about giving everyone furiture for Christmas I though OMG imagine Santa lugging a huge sideboard down the chimney ha ha

  7. very cute i think your daughter will love it

    1. thanks - she will because of the song definitely!!!

  8. These are great ideas for merchandise to sell, Suzan. Your daughter will love this, I am sure. If not, send hers my way!

One Christmas my family did give each other pieces of furniture. It was very crowded, but the wrapping and unwrapping were hilarious.

  9. Yes to the signs. I have big plans too for home made Christmas gifts, but I can't paint. Adopt me.

  10. Suzanne - the signs are amazing. Love the colour additions.

  11. I say.... GO FOR IT!!! They are wonderful Suzy!!!

Thanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer... From Dream To Reality!

  12. I think it's a great idea to make signs! I recently picked up a piece of wood from the side of the road and transformed it for my laundry room. (It reads "Laundry" and hangs over the washer/dryer). Glad I'm not the only one who does stuff like this - ha ha!

Your signs are wonderful. Glad I found you.
