I WANNA live there # 26

I live in a pretty incredible area - It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one home that's for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!

Good morning everyone -
2 weeks ago we were in London -
Last week was Grey Gardens -
And this week?
Well, I'm in a New York state of mind....................

All listings were found at  Sotheyby's New York City

Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighbourhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind

First one up is a Prewar 4 bedroom in the Apthorp
( Nora Ephron, Rosie O'Donnell both lived there in the past )
If you want to dance among the stars this apartment building is where you'd find some of them - not sure if they dance or not - but they should be - they most definitely should be dancing around and thanking their lucky stars that they have careers that can get them this.

The Apthorp is a historic condominium apartment building in New York CityNew York. The Renaissance Revival building designed by architects Clinton & Russell for absentee landowner William Waldorf Astor was built between 1906 and 1908; it occupies the full block between Broadway and West End Avenue and between 78th and 79th Streets. The building is built around a large interior courtyard. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and a city landmark.

I think I could just live in the foyer of this apartment

I think I could make this post 100 pages long and not get tired of it lol
But lets stick to 3 today, shall we?
I'm sinking into a depression here - I just walked into my kitchen to get a glass of water
and just stood there for a moment shaking my head sadly...................

  1. Both absolutely gorgeous apartments! If my last apartment had been half the size I would still be there!!

  2. I want to be a paaaaaaart of it, New York...New York. Love that song. :)

I'm digging the foyer in the first picture and the SIZE of that dining room. And I swear to you, you've given me hope, that dining room is the same color (not size, unfortunately ;)) that we picked out for our dining room that I was lamenting over, lol. If they can make it work, I can try. ;)

  3. Those are beautiful but the cost! Staggering! I'll move in and be your personal carpenter and wear a uniform but I don't clean or cook!

  4. NYC is my home town, so you know I would live there in a breath!!! I'm thinking maybe I could buy the cheaper one, you know..the one 8 MILLION something!!! They're absolutely and simply awesome apartments and I've seen that building with the court yard before, in real life and always thought...such class, my goodness..wish I could go in there and see...thank you for bringing it to me. Big hugs,

  5. Take your breath away stunning! Yes, I would be happy to don a uniform and serve you madam. ;-)

    1. unbelievable, right?
uniform can be painting clothes LOL

  6. Nothing less than amazing! I'd love to live in the city too, of course. My son lives in Connecticut so we at least get to visit once in awhile! I'm a follower. So nice you came by!

  7. I made a pact with myself long ago to never spend more than $9million on my home. So I guess I'll have to settle for that last one.

My 'uniform' consists of a bathrobe and a wine glass. Does that qualify?

  8. Hi Suzan!!

Man, those places are great. LOVE, love, love the windows in the 2nd house, but, I couldn't believe the kitchen. Now, don't get me wrong, if someone gave me the house, I wouldn't refuse it, but, I'm just saying...

I love the wood floors too. The ceilings in the 1st one is really gorgeous, along with the lighting. Lighting throughout all of them is really nice. And I like how the 3rd has 2 staff rooms, therefore I wouldn't have to worry about them going home.

Oh by the way...Uniforms!!! I guess they would be French Maid ones?

    Have a great day!!

  9. Wow. Those are all so beautiful. I think 'I wanna live there' too. London is on my list of places to go...hopefully sooner than later. I think the first house is my favorite but, of course, I would take any of them :)

  10. Wow....gotta love the ceilings, the windows....beautiful. $$ may be an issue for me but I am a good dreamer.

  11. Gorgeous, I think I could live there!!!

  12. you've chosen another winner! the courtyard looks like a movie set, so lovely.

  13. It's just impossible for me to wrap my mind around the fact that people REALLY DO live like this. WOW

  14. I am so ready to move into the first one! I'm just blown away. The herringbone pattern on the wood floors is drop dead gorgeous and I love all the light.

  15. I love these gorgeous rooms that are filled with light! And that foyer--wow, I'm there!

  16. Love it! Thanks for stopping by my blog and your lovely comments.

  17. Gorgeous DAH-LIN, gorgeous! You've put me in a New Yourk state of mind. Those floors!!!!! Thanks for sharing with SYC

  18. Floor to ceiling windows and architectural details do it for me any day of the week. So beautiful!

  19. fun! We live in Hong a SMALL place :o) Our place does have a "maids" room, but I use it for my drying rack and laundry... FUn post, dream big! I host a Tasteful Tuesday Link party.. would love for you to join! It opens Monday night... come check it out!

    1. My whole flat looks like servants quarters LOL
Thanks so much for dropping by!
      Will come by

  20. Our NY apartment could have fit in the foyer of that first apartment, probably with room to spare. LOL
I love your weekly feature and look forward to what you will share. Thanks! ~ Sarah

  21. I think I'll purchase one or two of these abodes for my servants to use when on vacation.
