I soooo want to do this when we redo the downstairs bathroom - isn't it fun?
or photos shaped into one
Anything with heart has got to be good, right?
I had black stones I used to keep in glass vases for decor....................
I also had a board I had created from pallets..............
Neither were being used - so I brought them both together for this project -
After dry brushing the pallet " frame " with white paint - I used " No More Nails " to stick the black stones into a heart shape.
I spread the glue with a paint stir stick and simply placed the stones over it - letting it set for 20 minutes or so
I placed the 2 miniature Christmas trees in galvanized tins from the dollar store ( the trees are from Ikea - 9.99 ) and will keep them up for Winter decor ( maybe Spring, Summer and Fall too - I love them )
John says - What are you doing exactly ( as I was diligently placing the rocks on the pallet )
Suzan says - Making art
John says - With Rocks?
Suzan says - Yup
John says - Well if you run out you can use the ones in your head
Suzan says - Is that you trying to be witty again ?
( Just in case anyone wants to know - the star is from Target )
So after this post was all written up - I realized I could use this black lantern - with cut outs on it saying
" JOY " " HOPE " and " LOVE " when a tea light is placed inside.
Well, well, well - love would work perfectly with this, don't you think?
Along with 2 wooden hearts my daughter Ashley made me years ago
And before I even realized what was happening - a Valentine's mantel was born
( I don't " do " Valentine's or Easter mantels - this one did itself lol - I tried it a couple of times in the beginning of my blogging adventure but it's not something I can really get into )
You can see the Valentine's Soda left for me last year HERE - she's one little talented fur baby !
Have a wonderful day y'all
Hugs

Super cute idea Suzan! Love this!!
ReplyDeleteI really really like this, I have saw this done before and have it pinned for that rainy day, lol, I think the black and white with the green of trees is just amazing!
ReplyDeleteCute! Now I know what to do with some flat back marbles I've been collecting! Just saw your Valentine post on Soda's artwork! How adorable! How is she doing btw?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea. Your mantel look sweet and the different 'mediums' for the hearts are perfect for Valentine's Day (or any day). The stone heart is an easy project and the No More Nails stuff is amazing. I've never seen it before. I hope you're keeping warm there.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love hearts! What a cool idea with the black stones, I love it!

Sweeeeeet, Suzan! You'd think that John would be used to this type of thing by now, right? LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Suzan! That's my kind of Valentine's Day mantel! OK, first, I about fell off my chair when John said "if you run out..." Hilarious! I love all things hearts, too, so I'm loving your rock art! YOU ROCK, Suzan! (I just had to say that before someone else did).
ReplyDeleteSuzan,
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh I love that bathroom floor with the heart. I hope you do that when you do your down stair bath. How sweet and pretty would that be. I love your rock heart and loooove the follow heart from Ashley. How sweet and special. You cannot go wrong with hearts. They just make you smile.
Kris
Love the heart on the bathroom floor! Wonder what John would have to say about that!!
ReplyDeleteI like your stones heart too ~ simple, natural, earthy, yet pretty, too.
En arribar a aquest dia, no puc deixar de pensar en la infantesa, aquells moments plens de mà gia, que tots hem viscut en la nostra infà ncia

I love the heart that you made, love when things come together like your's did. I also really like Ashley's heart and sweet Soda's attempt last year. Gosh you are surrounded by talent! xo Patty
ReplyDeleteEven if your head was full of rocks, that's better than having nothing in there right?
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea...and Soda is very talented...lol
ReplyDeleteSweet vignette for Valentive's Day! I love it all! Those hearts your daughter made are so pretty! Have a Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Vicky
This looks fantastic Suzan. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteYou know I love it when you make something! That's gorgeous Suzan! I guess I won't have to bug you about Valentines Day projects this year! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove your stoned heart. Looks like you're getting all set for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteI have made different items using wine corks, so start saving all your wine corks and you can also make a heart out of them as well. :}
