You know when you get to the bottom of the paint - I mean really at the bottom - scraping the barrel type of thing?
Well I usually find something to paint quick when I get to that point
Either by adding a bit of water to the tin to create a " wash "
Or dry brushing something......................
John says - WHY are you walking around with an empty tin of paint and a paint brush?
Suzan says - I have to find something to paint
John says - You sound like an addict - put the tin down - you can do it
Suzan says - No - I'll find something
John says - They say you have to admit you have a problem before you can be helped
Suzan says - I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM !!!
Anyway I found something !
My layered tables in the living room - the bottom one was white - the top piece was wood.................
I thought it looked ok for the winter...........but truth be told it always seemed a little " off "
John says - Wow - I like it ( sounding very surprised
John says - It looks very Slavic
Suzan says - What does that mean exactly?
John says - It's a style isn't it?
Suzan says - Do you mean Nordic?
John says - Same thing.......................
Slavic Shabby?
Here's how it looked before - sorry the photo was taken at night................
It fits the room better I think
and the teeny tiny bit that was left on the paint brush at the end of it all?
a new project was born...................
Now excuse me - I'm off to the dollar store to buy a whole slew of these !
Paint used : ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT ™ - PURE WHITE
Have a wonderful Thursday one and all!

Hi Suzan. The table looks great after your painting. Love it.

Perfect...just the right touch. Now seriously, you can buy those bird houses at the dollar store? I love the snow kissed look. Think I am heading to the dollar store today....just to make sure I don't miss something.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Karen !
DeleteYES - the dollar stores usually have different types of them ( I used a few for my fairy village last year !
xoxox
Sometimes an itty bitty amount of paint can lead to great things. ;) Here to wish you a great rest of the week!! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome & now I want that Canadian Gardening magazine... is it recent??
ReplyDeletexoxox
Oh, I think the painted layered table looks very Slavic Cheek :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I'm going to the dollar store, too! Thanks for sharing your idea.
ReplyDeleteI like that you slaved over that Slavic piece,Suzan....say that fast 10 times.....anyway. I think it looks great now- I like it better painted. Now you realize, of course, that you have created a BUY ALL THE BIRDHOUSES at the $Store...right? lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOMG.. and I thought I was inspired by your kitchen hutch and faux fireplaces... I did my table with that as my inspiration... now this table has gotten to me!!!
ReplyDeleteOh you're so sweet !
DeleteThanks SO much Suzanne !
xoxo
YES! Looks more like your layered tables belong in the room now. They looked great before but even much better now.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me; trying to use up that very last little drop of paint out of the can.
If going to the Dollar Store don't forget to get a few little birds to go along with your birdhouses and maybe a couple butterflies as well and you will have a cute Spring birdhouse décor.
Absolutely beautiful! Just wish I could find my paints, get over this flu and start painting. Slavic shabby, hilarious. Patty
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing...I'll find something to use every last drop on!
ReplyDeleteJohn, John, JOHN! You know your wife is a paintaholic.
Go with the flow, er...the paint.
Everything is lovely, Suze!
xo
You just have to use that last little bit of paint or it will dry up ... great look on the layered table. Have a great week-end.

Suzan, oh my stars, the coffee table looks marvelous! I don't care what you call it! :)
ReplyDeleteThe bird house is wonderful.
You are NOT the only one who does that with paint. lol
~ Christina
It all looks great. What a great use for that last smidgen of paint. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nancy !
DeleteThat paint is gold lol

Love what you did as your coffee table...it looks awesome!! Love the birdhouse too. I like going to the dollar store and finding goodies to use in my projects.
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Ahhh the dollar store! You should just head in there with your brush and can! Wouldn't that be fun?
ReplyDeleteThat little bit of paint was meant for that table. It looks awesome. And the cute little birdhouse.
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much Trish !!!
DeleteThat little birdhouse has grown into a village lol
xoxo
I'm a fan of some good old dry brushing and your coffee table now looks perfect in your beautiful decor!
ReplyDeleteI love that Slavic style!
ReplyDeleteSuzan! Fabulous post! I love that bit about your conversation with your husband. That rings soooo true!!! Made me smile. Anyhow, whether we call it Slavic or Shab: it looks GORGEOUS. Thank you for being a part of our party SHARE IT one more time Saturdays. It wouldn’t be a party without you! Happy Sunday! Your host Rose, FineCraftGuild.com
ReplyDeletebtw if you email me privately, i will look up the excellent new spam filter i have now. it's a plug in and it works fabulous, but i forgot what it's called.
LOL - I used to think I was the only one that met up with such resistance - seems it's pretty universal !!!
DeleteThanks so much Rose - ( and for the party )

Don't know how to email you personally - you're a no reply blogger !
DeleteSorry!
I obviously need you to come to Texas and either paint my door for me or teach me how. No, on second thought, just come do it. I love it...it turned out great!
ReplyDeleteYep - Slavic style is here to stay! I have a box of smalls needing makeovers so they are quick to grab when I have a bit of paint to slap somewhere. I do hate to waste paint.
ReplyDeleteSuzan, you always crack me up. This sounds like something I would do - walk around with a wet paint brush looking for something to add paint to. Love your "new" table. Thank you for sharing it at Share It One More Time. Cathy
ReplyDeleteYes, I do like both of the pieces painted white too! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the new look!!!! Thank you for sharing at Share it One More Time always look forward to seeing all your projects!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, you don't waste a drop! Oh yeah, much better now. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.
ReplyDeleteIt's a winner! Do you think it would offend my preschool granddaughter if I put a wash on the same birdhouse she painted for me? It's a tich on the gaudy side. Yeah, maybe I shouldn't do it. LOL
ReplyDeleteI once painted something my Son bought me for Christmas and he was very offended lol ( and he was an adult at the time ) so no - leave that birdhouse alone ! xoxo
DeleteOne can't always tell by a picture, but I think I prefer the white redo. Visiting from SYC
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan - I prefer it too !
