I bought this sideboard last year - because I fell in love with the scale of it - it's not a large one so could accommodate any space - kitchen or dining room -
and somehow through one of our infamous conversations I ended up deciding to keep it for our office
The size worked perfectly for our small space - and was great storage ( especially being able to hide
messy papers behind the cupboards ) KEEP IN MIND - John did not want to keep this - at all.
Terrible photos I know ( even worse than usual lol ) but those were the days of taking pics with my cell phone ( when I felt like a genius just being able to download them )
Ok - so last week I bought another table set - remember this?
and decided that the sideboard would work with it........................so here we go
Suzan says - John could you help me take the sideboard out of the office?
John says - Why?
Suzan says - I'm going to paint it to match the table and sell it as a set
John says - They don't even look alike - they're NOT a set at all
Suzan says - John - could you help me take the sideboard out of the office?
John says - But it works in there.......................
Suzan says - You argued with me to put it in there in the first place - told me it was ridiculous
to have a sideboard in an office - so..................... you argue with me to put it in there - and now
you're going to argue with me take it out of there?
Suzan says - John could you help me take the sideboard out of the office?
Suzan says - So I can SELL it? ( those are usually the magical words )
I used ASCP Old white on the top - and Paris Gray on the body -
The back board was destroyed - we had to change it completely so I took advantage and painted it before we put the new piece on
Isn't practice suppose to make perfect?
My ( ahem ) photography skills seem to be getting worse - but I'm really far too lazy today to rectify it - sorry about that :) - the blue on the back piece is the one of the colors I chose for the My Color by Pantone paint party I participated in last month.
I painted the top Paris Gray - then White Washed it to give it a " farmhouse" type of finish - and lastly dry brushed some more white and gray on the surface....................
Transferred a laurel leaf ( from Graphics Fairy ) on either side
John says - You've got to be kidding me?
Suzan says - Well we have to replace the sideboard with something, now don't we?
Thanks John!!!
Ok I'm off to finish the table and chairs now folks -
I Have to do 3 more of these
Suzan says - JOHN?
John says - Just pretend I'm not here ok? PLEASE just pretend I'm not here!

Which technique did you use for the seat transfers? I have fallen in love with the ATP papers that arrived in the mail on Saturday!
ReplyDeletethe color on the furniture is lovely. My husband thinks things should stay in one place too. Silly men.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaaa... Shaking my head as I sooo understand. But in the end I usually get my way as well :-)
ReplyDeleteThe sideboard is very pretty. I await the completion of the table and chairs...
Chhers, Gee
Thanks so much Gee!!!
DeleteI can just see you with that big honking thing stuck in the door between bedroom and office....yeah....xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThis is GORGEOUS!! lOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteWow, the end result is terrific, I love ASCP in Old White, and with Paris Grey...perfect. Did the sideboard always have the chicken wire in the doors? I want to use it on my TV console, meeting some resistance from the other half!
ReplyDeleteJan @ The Pink Geranium
Those pieces will be great together! A table is just a table but one with a sideboard is a suite. ~ Maureen
ReplyDeletehow incredible. I love the transformation! you did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful job, it looks amazing! Such a great make over! Have a lovely day
ReplyDeletethanks so much for your kind words!

Absolutely stunning! I love everything about it. Megan
ReplyDeleteLove your pieces transformed! They are beautiful! And I just adore the monogram on the larger piece ...nice touch!

totally love the fabulous new set and the armorie in the office genius lol just dont tell john i said so or he'll think were all nuts in blogland lol
ReplyDeleteWAAAAYYYY too late for that - he already thinks you're all as nuts as I am.
DeleteXOX
Just think how monotonous John's life would be if all the furniture was simply where it was yesterday. Simply tell him "You're welcome."
ReplyDelete(You gave me a second of panic with that goodbye comment in the header line. Don't do that to me. I need you here.)
are you trying to make me cry Cheryl???
Deletethat made me emotional ( but in a good way )
Big big hugs,
Suzana Anna Danan
Such a beautiful piece! you guys are nuts!
ReplyDeleteI like it
ReplyDeletewhy thank you very much!
DeleteVisit my blog http://paulszaszsebes.blogspot.ro/
ReplyDeleteDear Suzan, I also had a bit of a scare with the goodbye title... but clicked on it quickly thinking it was about furniture!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you did with the buffet, and LAUGHED at your narration, HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!
They need us to make their lives interesting, I agree with one of your readers, LOL!
I married an old man, and he has a bad knee and now hurt his arm playing soccer... I swear he plays soccer just so he doesn't need to carry furniture!!!
Hugs

i love this! love your conversations too!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deanne!!!
DeleteBig hugs,
I would like a tutorial on how you manage to get John to move everything. I love that blue and the distressed painting on the piece. I agree with the above - DO NOT PUT GOOD-BYE IN YOUR TITLE!
ReplyDeleteIt's the bane of our husbands' existence - moving furniture for us painters. I wait till he gets home, give him a glass of wine and then as I'm heading out the door, say "honey, can you just move this while I'm out".
ReplyDeleteYep. He's gonna beat you with that apple turnover.
ReplyDeleteAny day now....
xoxo laurie
Hi Suzan!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! What a great job of the sideboard!!! Can't wait to see the chairs and table. Enjoy the rest of the week!!

ReplyDelete-Fotini { http://glamorousbride.blogspot.com }
They look wonderful, and your photography is great too. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sideboard, Suzan! I love the color you did inside. What a great piece. You're right, the size is perfect. That would even work here in our condo.
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so much fun to read, and how I can relate to your conversations with John :) He sounds like he is a very good sport, as my dear sweet hubby is as well! I love your sideboard--the light blue on the back inside is so pretty, and I like the grey and white and the transfers.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteI love the side board both ways. It is beautiful. You always have the greatest finds. Thanks so much for sharing at Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party.
Debi @ Adorned From Above

Thanks Debi - I always think everyone else finds the best things - but looking back I HAVE found some pretty great pieces!
DeleteHugs,
Suzan
Well Suzy Q ~ that is one fabulous makeover! Great job. By the way, my husband's favorite word is "sell" too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
Love the blue peaking through. I'm featuring your buffet in the PoPP Spotlight this weekend. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteYou are John sound very familiar! Those conversations happen around here all the time! And your work is simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh how I can relate. I just talked to my hubby about bringing home some large flat rocks that were once a foundation for an old home. Thinking that I could make a grow box with them next Spring he asked, "Does it ever end?" I'm sure John could relate. I told him "that's what keeps us young". If we just sit around and do nothing we'll get older and fatter than we already are. lol! Love the colors. Can't wait to see everything (in the set) completed! thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Really and truly gorgeous Suz! I love the whole set!
ReplyDeleteWOW what a fabulous makeover. Can't believe it is the same piece! THnak you for linking up.
ReplyDeleteXO
