Good morning everyone !
This was the first Friday in a while that I didn't have time to " chat " because I'm trying desperately to clean out my " stash " of furniture in order to start working on the dining room !DO NOT LOOK AT THE HANDLES - I OBVIOUSLY HAD A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT WHICH WAY WAS THE RIGHT WAY !!!
( this happens every single time I do a French Provincial something or other - I swear to you - both ways look right to me )
and the scariest part is I didn't even notice I had them going in both directions !
John says - Something's off with the handles
John says - Can you please let your readers know that I pointed that out for you please - thank you.
The desk was part of the set that I did for Evan's nursery - ( HERE )
I went in a completely different direction since there was no space for it in his room.
( I held on to it for as long as I could - hoping against hope that Ashley would store it for future use but she told me there was no way she could - ABSOLUTELY NO WAY - and so the makeover began this week and will be sold.. It's from a high end furniture line and is exactly 43 years old ( it was my nephew's - and then my niece's ) but it looks like it was made yesterday - it's in immaculate shape for it's age.
The chair - however - was in rough shape ( and of course I didn't take a before - of course not )
After unsucessfully searching for just the right fabric I ended up reupholstering the seat with drop cloth..................and painted the grain sack pattern on it - it's a perfect " fit " !
and then I decided to have a little fun with this makeover - with the hutch - to make it look like a country piece for a little girls room
Ok - on to the next piece ( s )
It's been hot here in Montreal - very hot as in 37 degrees celcius with humidity ( 98 in American ) and today they've got a " Heat Warning " in effect.................guess I'll spend some time in the pool - this may just be the last hurrah !
Have a wonderful one everybody !

You didn't post your Friday chat, sniff,sniff........sorry I had to get a Kleenex and then nothing ystrdy and I had an aha moment !!! Ashley's in the hospital, Evan's being born !!! Did Suzan take her toothbrush and deodorant ??? Today you blogged, happy to hear you and the dresser/chair/hutch is adorable, too bad my little girl is 31. Float in the pool and have a Sangria or two or a bottle for me. Hug's,TTReplyDelete
I never thought of that ( that people would think Ashley went into labor ) The poor thing - it's time - she can't sleep at this point !Delete
And thanks for the reminder - I have 2 bottles of Sangria that I completely forgot about LOL !!!
Have a great day Tammy !
I kept checking for your Friday chat. This is a beautiful piece, I just love the checkerboard/lattice look on the back of the shelving part.ReplyDelete
So sorry no room for this cute piece for little Evan's room. It looks good with your re love to it. It is hot here in Chicago land too. Have a great new week ahead. Hope little Evan plans to arrive soon. Keeping good thoughts.
Well, you have obviously trained John well to notice the details.ReplyDelete
Your magic touch turns any piece to gold!
The piece is exquisite as usual, too bad you can't keep it (but you probably feel that way about all your babies ;) )ReplyDelete
Go enjoy the pool before it gets unbearable.. We are also having a heat wave in lovely Greece - didn't have one all summer and now that school is about to start - bam! Just in time so the kids won't want to study.
Thanks so much Mary !!! ( unfortunately I do usually want to keep everything LOL ) but I need the space !Delete
Enjoy the heatwave - believe it or not I AM enjoying it - I don't want it to end. At. All.
Study Schmudy - let them jump in a pool lol
Sorry that Evan had no room for the desk. But, I am sure some little girl will want it and love it to pieces.ReplyDelete
Don't feel bad we had three wonderful days of not being hot, but starting today for the next week it will be in the high 90's.
I am so ready for FALL. Started decorating with my Fall stuff, I don't care if it gets to be a 110.
Have a great time in the pool and enjoy it while you can. Soon old man winter will be blowing snow and ice.
Have a great week and stay cool
From your lips.................I hope it goes fast because I really have no room for it LOLDelete
I'm NOT ready for Fall - it could stay this temperature for another month and I'd be thrilled !
Fall is too short and I'm not looking forward to what comes after it :)
Yyou have a great week too !
O Suzan - this is an OMG piece. I love it and if I lived in Montreal it would be marked sold. Thank heavens you did not etch the paint off to make it look all scratched up. I prefer smooth old stuff. I love, love, love it. Betty from Ontario, Canada.ReplyDelete
Oh WOW Betty - thanks SO much !!!Delete
This piece I think was better off not being distressed ( but some pieces beg for a little LOL )
Hugs to you in Ontario
From me in Montreal
Perfect for a young girl, shelves will hold many treasures. I think it will sell quickly. Yes, enjoy the pool while you can! We had a few coolish days last week but the heat is back. At least it has been less humidity so we can sleep. Hope you are too. Little Evan is due on the scene soon, hope Ashley is mustering through the weather. xo PattyReplyDelete
You're a no replyer again Patty ! Hope you're right - I really need the space - the front porch is full of furniture again lol.Delete
The humidity is high today - there's actually a heat warning in effect - Ashley came by this afternoon - with swollen feet like an elephant - God Love Her................she soooo looks ready now !
Thanks Patty xoxoxo
I have fiddled with google but can't seem to fix why this is happening! Stupid Google, stupider me! Poor Ashley, hugs for Momma soon to be! xo PattyDelete
Oh this is fabulous! I wish I had a little girl for it! Beautiful job, on the chair too!ReplyDelete
Another winner- great taste and a sense of adventure! Kudos to you!ReplyDelete
Very pretty Suzan! I really like the hutch. It's wierd to me that it's so hot there.. it'll be snowing next week LOL! The knobs look right either way to me too. I guess we are knob challenged....ReplyDelete
Really beautiful desk! :)ReplyDelete
Too bad the dresser won't fit in Evan's nursery but lucky the girl who gets all these fabulous pieces. Love the check pattern on the hutch and your painted grain sack stripes are perfection...like no paint bleed perfection.ReplyDelete
I think it's just precious Suzan. Love the checkered back and the grain sack is fabulous! I always think things need to be centered and I love it off centered. Thanks for sharing with SYC.ReplyDelete
These colors are pretty together! Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!ReplyDelete
