Good morning everyone !
Before you wonder what I'm doing painting with everything else that's going on - let me explain that I started this piece on Thursday - before I got the call that Evan was preparing to make his way into the world :)
It was a piece that I had started LAST summer and never quite finished - it was tucked away in my storage room and dragged out again last week.
And so any moment that I wasn't at the hospital - I'd grab the brush and work a little more on it.
It's extremely therapeutic for me ( and we all know how much I desperately need therapy LOL )
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ™ - Antoinette and Pure White - with clear wax and a little distressing
I wanted it to look a little shabby and a little fairy tale ( ish )
Wouldn't it be so pretty in a young girl's bedroom?
Well better than it would have looked in it's original state anyway - it wasn't very " girly " at all
Ok - off to make some more dinners for the new Mommy !
There are other things in this world besides painting furniture after all - like staring at a newborn baby :)
Have a wonderful day everyone - it's supposed to be a beautiful week here in Montreal !
Much love,
Me

The headboard sure looks better lightened up! And what a joy to have a new baby to look at. :)
ReplyDeleteThe piece is beautiful. And congrats on the new baby in the fam. :)
ReplyDeleteI wold have done anything for that headboard when I was a little girl!! So much prettier now with the paint showing off the details...
ReplyDeleteYou mean you didn't take paint and a brush and some furniture to the hospital with you?? Shame! LOL
ReplyDeleteNow all those fabulous details on that headboard pop - very nice! You are like the Everready Bunny, you just keep going and going and going. What a sweet Mother you are too! Crap, I hope my daughter doesn't see this because my oven wasn't turned on once after Westin was born. Come to think of it, its rarely turned on anymore since becoming empty nesters (that sounded dirty).
ReplyDeleteIt looks very nice. I don't usually like painted wood because I just love the look of wood grain.
ReplyDeleteWow! The transformation is amazing! I find it amazing that some people can take an "ugly" piece of furniture and make it into something beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuzan,
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous Headboard because of the MAGIC you performed on it! Wow! When did you get the time to do this? I really thought you'd be resting up after the EVAN Miracle Marathon, followed by more gazing upon the new sweet EVAN! Gosh, he is adorable! How happy you all must be! Congratulations again and I hope everyone is doing well! God bless you all! How wonderful to be a Grandma! I can't wait! (and I'm older than you, Lucy!)
I wish your family the very BEST!
Laura/Hazel
Thanks SO much Ethel !!!
DeleteWe were there the other night and I couldn't give him back to Ashley - I just couldn't physically do it - I want to kidnap him and run away LMHO !!!
XOXO
I totally would feel the same, Lucy! Kidnap that little Angel! Sigh!
DeleteLove,
Ethel/Hazel/Laura
You going to help me Ethel???
Deletexoxo
Why SURE! We can sneak Evan out like when Lucy snuck that huge cheese into the plane when they were on their way back from Italy or France, and she wrapped the cheese like a baby in a blanket so she wouldn't have to pay any duty tariffs on it. Did you ever see that episode? Of course she enlisted her sidekick Ethel to help her when the going got rough on the plane. (I hope Evan and Mom and you are doing well!)
DeleteLove,
Ethel
