We needed new tea towels.......................

You know it's the strangest thing - I go from having too much of " things " to running out of them completely.
There doesn't seem to be a waning period.
One minute I have too many tea towels to fit in a kitchen drawer and the next thing you know I don't have any  ( same thing happens with panties and bras for me )

Anyway - we needed new tea towels - but would never think of making a trip out to just pick those items up.
" What are you doing today ? "
" Oh just going out tea towel shopping " said no one ever.
So............ we were out Christmas shopping.
At Chapters ( that's the Barnes and Noble version here in Montreal )
And lo and behold they had tea towels !
Not just any old tea towels but PERFECT tea towels !
Working tea towels I might add

John says - I thought we were buying books?
Suzan says - But we need tea towels - I'm basically using rags right now
John says - WHO BUYS TEA TOWELS AT A BOOK STORE???
Suzan says - Well obviously a lot of people do if they're selling them !
Suzan says - Oh look - they have cashmere blankets too - and candles - and beautiful tea sets............
John says - This is ridiculous - really - it's just ridiculous - we're here to buy Christmas gifts !
Suzan says - Lower your voice - please - OMG - we NEED tea towels.
John says - They're 10.00 a towel - are you nuts ?
Suzan says - I NEED these ones - they're perfect - I'm always trying to figure out measurements !

John says - Ok grab a couple and let's finish shopping

But then I saw this one too and HAD to have it.

And we continued our shopping..................

Later on when we got home I put them out to take photos..................John was doing something or other at the sink and went to grab one to dry his hands with

Suzan shrieks - DON'T USE IT PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!
John says - Why not?
Suzan says - I'm thinking of framing them actually
John says - YOU'RE INSANE - I THOUGHT WE NEEDED TEA TOWELS ?
Suzan says - There's an old rag on the counter - you can use that ......................

Have a wonderful day everyone ♥
I'm off to buy tea towels - we desperately need them !
You know how it is - one day you have too many to put in frames and the next thing you know...........

Hugs,
Me

  3. As long as you got an empty draw from the tea towels I guess that gives you plenty of storage for more panties and bras!! Lol I would love to hear what John would say about that. I can just see him open a drawer for a tea towel and it has panties and bras in it, OMG!!!! Just sayin'!!

  6. What is it with men and kitchen towels! I have been married to my Jim for almost fifty years, and he can't seem to keep out of my kitchen drawers whenever he needs a "rag"! It is not like I have not supplied him with a huge assortment of "rags" for his projects, he F O R G E T S where he put them! I have caught him cleaning poop off his shoes, in the kitchen sink no less, with my kitchen towels! If he is painting, the floor is strewn with my kitchen towels soaking up his drips! Need to shine up a rusty old tool, goes to the kitchen drawer! Buffing up his hubcaps......kitchen drawer! Now all families have their secrets they would rather keep hidden, but the first dinner I had with his family a very long time ago, wanting to make the best impression, I offered to do the dishes! A nice hot pan of soapy water awaited me, and I began to wash, but with the most interesting dish cloth I had ever seen. It was at a time, when you made do with what you had on hand, and what was on hand was recycled underpants with the nastiness cut out with scissors! Perhaps in some way, my Jim was forever scarred by the fear that perhaps at some point in the hand-me-down line, they had been perched on his behind! That being said, I am just fearful that I am becoming more and more like Joan Crawford in Mommy Dearest, but instead of saying "NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!!!", I am saying, "NO MORE KITCHEN TOWELS!!!" as I twist them up ready to deliver a good wallup as I wack away at him!!!

    1. Hmmm - after 50 years and Jim is still trying to get in your drawers ??? Sounds like an awfully successful marriage to me LOL !!!
Buffing up his hubcaps - you make me lol every single time !
I have a reference to Joan Crawford in tomorrow's chat LMHO !!!

  8. hahahaha! you know those tea towels they sell in the embroidery dept at craft stores? I have maybe a couple dozen. I love to stencil or embroidery on them. Also, some fabric shops now carry Moda toweling by the yard. Hope John isn't looking for a commission when I copy these (for personal use only). You've got me laughing, lady.

  9. Lovely looking, I never saw them at our stores here. I am a tea towel nut! Seriously! Always picking up ones I like to hoard for when we need them. I change them by season too. God forbid if Dave hangs a Fall one in Spring! They get used here, spills, wiping a wet dog that ran inside etc. The carpenters needed cloths for staining etc, so I gave them some old tea towels that I cldn't get stains out of. He said but these are good, mine at home have holes in them. Men, they don't get the whole proper tea towel useage. Dave is always mixing up the old ones with the 'kitchen' ones. I am the tea towel police! Enjoy your new ones. xo Patty

  10. I'm really wondering where your undies are going, Suzan. I mean, how do you misplace those ? Well, never mind....maybe we shouldn't go there. So, I love these towels, but at $10 a pop, I probably wouldn't buy them for myself. But they would make awesome gifts ! Perfect for someone who cooks or bakes. I'd be taking it out of the drawer all the time to get measurements. Much easier than going to Google.

  18. OMG! You are so CRAZY FUNNY! That's my Lucy! (Poor Ricky, no wonder he's going nuts around you!)
Too bad we don't live closer, I went bonkers and bought tons of tea towels at Home Goods cuz they were Pretty and cheap. Now, every time I try to open a kitchen drawer it sticks because there are so many kitchen towels crammed in it, but you're right, it's either feast or famine around here and Security is having plenty of tea towels and toilet tissue!! Oh yeah and underwear, too!
Glad you are feeling better! I can tell because you're back to being Insanely FUNNY!!
    Love Ya,

  21. Right now, we're making do until we redo the kitchen in about a million years! We put some in the to-go pile a couple of months ago. They were the thin kind, and we prefer the thick-and-thristy terry cloth ones. {Katie just got rich with 16 pair of new "gutchies"! Found them at a great price in a utilitarian style! No frills for her!}

  22. The one with conversions is really great to have so you don't even have to think to remember how much of what is equal to what. Wonder if they have them at Barnes & Noble over the line in Georgia. I might have to find an excuse to go to Augusta Mall to accidentally see them in there(lol). I really need one of those too!

  23. Well, I get you!

I received some great towels as a gift and hung them on the range to take a photo. They I had to slap Steve's hand so he wouldn't use them.

I am in LOVE with the towels you chose. I need to find some. And, as to the issue of having towels on hand. I order 2 dozen IKEA towels (white with narrow red stripes on the sides) for $.79 each and have them delivered. They last forever. And, I don't slap Steve's hand when he uses them.

Thanks for joining the fun as Share Your Cup this week.
