Queen of Sheba ..........and her Cherry Tree

Last year when we first diiscovered the tree outside our bedroom window was a cherry tree - I was overwhelmed.  Seriously overwhelmed.
Renovations had gotten the better of me - ugly surprises that come with buying an old home in bad repair had left me feeling about as down as you can feel about a house and then..................( well you can read about our discovery here ( Thank you tree )

It started like this..............a couple of weeks ago.
It seemed like we woke up one morning and they were there - outside our bedroom window

A deep pink in the budding stage - in such abundance that we couldn't see anything but that from our window
Last Spring ( our first Spring here ) there were only a few branches that flowered and we were overcome by the beauty - but this year?

We watched in fascination as buds started appearing on every branch.

And then they opened.
oh my gosh - and then they opened......

There's something about waking up in the morning to a Cherry Tree directly outside your second story window.................

That makes you stay in bed just a little longer in the morning

tree gazing..............

Suzan says - John could you make me a tea - and bring it up to me here - with my camera?
John says - I'll bring you a tea - what do you need the camera for?
Suzan says - I want to take some pics from the bed
John says - WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE,  THE QUEEN OF SHEBA?
Suzan says - No, I'm Queen Suzanna Anna Danna

And I couldn't think of a more apt description of how I feel in the mornings looking out at this tree.
A Queen.

Suzan says - Now..............I'd like 2 toast with jam and an orange cut up please..............thank you
John says - Don't push your luck - we've got a million things to do today................

Don't you hate it when footmen act all superior?
Shouldn't he be on his knees saying " Yes, your Royal Highness - right away " ?

Anyway - I have to put on my Cinderella clothes now and go downstairs and start working in the fillth and grime of the mud room we're still trying to transform..............
But tomorrow morning?
For a good 20 minutes or so...................I'll be Queen Suzanna Anna Danna again.

Have a wonderful day my Royal Subjects...................
Much love to you
From me - your Queen ( if you're reading this early in the morning )

  5. You and John are so funny - you should be on a sitcom. Love it!
Your tree is stunning and I am sure the reason why it is so spectacular is that you have taken care of it the past year. The other owner probably did not water it or take care of it. Is it one that you get cherries from or is it a mock one.
Have a great week and good luck with the mudroom. I am sure it will look great when you finish.

  7. I love that expression, and my father used to use that often: "Who do you think you are, the Queen of Sheba"? I was able to one time find "Entrance for The Queen of Sheba" (by Handel) as a ringtone, and used that for years. Love it, Suzanne! Oh, and I have Cherry Tree envy. . .must get one for our yard, maybe right outside our bedroom window in fact!

  9. Is there any chance Prince Charming notices you in your Cinderella clothes? Because from what I get, he can't recognise her face, only her shoe...

  19. What a treat! It is absolutely G. O. R. G. E. O. U. S. and a wondrous beauty to wake up to. Signed: your lowly follower... We did have some huge lilies bloom — the kind that end up in Easter flower arrangements. Beautiful.

  20. Hail to the Queen! It reminds Anne falling in love with the cherry tree outside her bedroom window at Green Gables. Lucky gal to have that to wake up to every morning. And, the footman, of course.

  21. How perfectly lovely to wake up and see this beautiful tree every morning. It is really beautiful Suzan. I always feel that spring and it's blooms are way too short lived and will soon be but a memory (or photo of it).
