I decided to check out the headboards................
It's been awhile since I've even looked for them -
A lot of you will remember this one from last year
which looked like this when we picked it up you can see the dresser transformation HERE and the armoire and end tables which were done totally different ( HERE )
the transformation was done with ANNIE SLOAN chalk paint Pure White and Paris Grey
I've done a few more of them since then and I'm ready to do another - if I could have I would have bought them all !!!
Here's a sample of what was available this week on Craig's list in my neck of the woods
Don't ask me why but I think this one would be gorgeous in a bright color - coral, aqua or even yellow !!!
I love this one just the way it is actually - looks very French Chateau, non?
GORGEOUS !!!
Same as above with a mirror in the center
Plain - but perfect for a shabby chic finish with a French graphic !!!
White? Heavily distressed?
Pewter gray metallic paint?
AND...................here's the one John went to pick up last night - lots of detail - solid oak
But it didn't fit in the van - too tall - going back on the weekend to strap it to the roof !!!
This little matching end table will fit in the van though!
It won't be staying like this - wood lovers beware -
( whoa whoa it's my headboard and I'll paint if I want to - paint if I want to - you would paint too....♪♫♪..)
Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet - but the creative juices are flowing in high gear today - I'll have to let them simmer for a bit until one in particular floats to the top.
What would you do with it?
Have a great day all
Much love,
Moi

You MUST paint! All that carving would look beautiful painted. Maybe one day oak will be en vogue again but hopefully not in my lifetime!
ReplyDeletePaint it girl! I can't wait to see it. I'm not a fan of painting in grooves... hopefully I can learn something from you. I tend to fill in the grooves with paint...fail.
ReplyDeleteI like the circles headboard too.
I'm not sure, it has so much detail I suppose two colors would be the choice, or not, I have no idea, you're the pro, you will know what to o with it, and yes my husband would have to be gone to his heavenly slumber for me to paint a piece of Oak, lol, I know I am an odd ball but I'm not a fan of all that carving detail, on furniture, it makes it too fussy and heavy, theres a whole lot of fire wood in those two pieces, lol!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just sure you will make it marvellous! Can't wait to see the transformation.
ReplyDeleteThat is a spectacular headboard. I can't wait to see you work your magic on it. That is going to be a devil to paint, I bet, with all that detailing. Painting will lighten up the overall "heaviness" of the piece, too. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou had a great selection. I love that brass one. I keep looking for wrought iron for our guest room and can never find a think in my price range. I can't wait to see what you do with the one you got.
ReplyDeleteI just love how paint can transform a piece of wood into something spectacular
ReplyDeleteI like seeing the before and after on the headboards
while I'm a wood lover....I do enjoy seeing your transformations!!!

Come o mine it needs a makeover. I love number three can't wit to see hat you do with that last one.
ReplyDeleteBig job, but you are the girl to do it!
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing projects like this (and your website as well!!). Thanks for posting, sharing, and inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart - thanks so much ♥
DeleteLoved hearing your creative thoughts about each one. I really admire your ability to see what they should become! I, on the other hand, have no creative vision in that department, so I'll just wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteThat headboard sooo needs your help Suzan, and dare I say it... it needs to be painted. It has great details, but it looks so heavy and tired. I know it will be fabulous when you're done with it.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing your different ideas for each piece. They'll transform well with any choice you make!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. Maybe paint will help. I think they're both butt ugly but maybe they're ugly ducklings waiting for Suzan's paint brush to turn them into swans.
ReplyDeletePaint away my friend! Look out Hometalk...here she comes! lol. I would paint it too. I can hardly wait to see what you do with it! Have a great weekend Suzan! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with for this project. Paint will make beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I never remember to check out Craig's List...and if this is what you're finding, I'm missing out on some great deals in my neck of the woods!! Looking forward to see what you do with it! Debbie :)
ReplyDeleteI have two headboards in my garage waiting for paint. I'm sure I'll get to them, but you'll probably do 10 beautiful ones before I do! LOL!
ReplyDeletewanting to redo my headboard, but will wait for you to do yours and then just copy cuz you are way more creative than me. Can't wait, so hurry please?
ReplyDeleteGo to town on them. They are butt UGLY in wood form. Lol BUT will be gorgeous painted. So much detail. Nice find.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much - almost finished actually !

Oh my that is one gorgeous headboard and night stand. Definitely needs paint so those details will pop pop pop. As for a color, I think simplicity is in order here because the details stand for themselves. Some dark wax in all those crevices and holy camoly it'll be gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteMarie@The Interior Frugalista
Your headboard is gorgeous. What a great selection of headboards. I've been looking for headboards myself, and no luck yet. I also can't wait to see what you do with it, I know it will be good.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely paint it. It will have a whole new life and the paint will bring out the carving. I'm sure you'll paint it to perfection.
ReplyDeleteI am pulling for creamy white, sanded back heavily to reveal the oak, and stained dark over it all.
