South " corner "
North " corner " - I have a couple of climbers that will be growing in this corner -
A potted climber
to wrap itself around the ladder ( being used as an arbor )
Baskets are thriving ( I still need to get the " straw " filler for these )
12.50 a basket - you probably have to live in Montreal to know how exceptional a deal that is
( Home Depot was charging 34.99 for these )
Is it just me - or do rustic fences make the perfect back drop for flowers?
Hanging strawberry plant -
I think we have 10 hanging baskets - ( and there may be a few more before I'm finished )
And the Perennial's are waking up - at last - not in full bloom but there's a promise there lol
Peonies - my favorites !!! 5 or 6 bushes of them - I can't wait to see what colors they are!
Day lilies - Tiger lilies - Irises - plus tons of unknown surprises - this makes all the agony of the interior of the house worth every second.
I think I'm going to love this garden we've inherited ♥
I'm working on a dining " niche " this weekend - here's a rough draft - ( it's not the final copy )
Wait until you hear what John says on this one................
Plus hanging fairy lights here and there for evening magic
And getting the swamp finished for swimming
And finishing off the last of the planting
And...............and...................and - there's tons and tons of work to do!
Have a wonderful weekend everybody - love you all

Beautiful, Suzan! I think, I would spend my whole day there...
ReplyDeleteYour garden is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt is looking really good. You seem to have achieved a lot in a short time.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love all those hanging plants and your dining area! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, dear Suzan. Love your garden and it must be so exiting to see all the flowers wake up.
ReplyDeleteBig hug from here
Wow, beautiful, Suzan! You have your own little oasis. And it's not just you...I think rustic fences are the best! We have one in our backyard, and I just love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, Suzanne, this will be like Christmas every time you go out and see new plants in the yard! So much eye candy - it's all so pretty, and yes, I love fencing (and your ladder) as garden photo backdrops. All this beauty (and work!) outside will have you totally forgetting about the inside until August or so, when it's either too hot to be out, or you're tired of watering, dead-heading it all. Love the glimpse of the niche, too.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I misspelled your name. My bad.
Deleteits looking wonderful! It must be so exciting to see all the flowers coming up! A surprise a day! You have great plans and they are all coming through, what an oasis you are creating, you certainly know how to weave your magic, you will enjoy that pool after all your work!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking gorgeous Suzan! Now I can't wait to get out to the garden nursery tomorrow. I just love this time of year!! Can't wait to see your niche.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking beautiful. I love rustic fence too, we have one for privacy in our backyard.
Your hanging baskets are lots of fun.
Have a blessed weekend. ♥
Oh, it all looks so pretty, Suzan! I was thinking of buying some of those baskets but the prices were way out of my budget around these parts too, and yes rustic fences are the perfect backdrop! Can't wait to see the dining niche!
ReplyDeleteSuzan you are going to enjoy that space so much. Given our short summers it is nice to have your own swamp for swimming and a lovely garden for dining. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking beautiful there Suzan! I think the former owners really enjoyed their gardens and it's nice you have all those pretty surprises to look forward to all summer. I love your corners and can't wait to see the dining nook. The sneak peek looks very nice. Enjoy the weekend. Sunny and nice here. Yay. (and no deck to enjoy)
ReplyDeleteAnother niche? Now I'm going to need one of those, too. I'm tired, Suzan.
ReplyDeleteI do believe you've inherited a real gem! I'm anxious to see how the dining nook comes out ~
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
I am really interested to see your outdoor dining area. The preview looks amazing
ReplyDeleteMoving along nicely in your garden! Sheer curtains outside are so F. Scott Fitzgerald and I love mine. Oh, and peonies are favourites of mine, too.
ReplyDeleteI am so used to you being covered in 10 feet of snow that this scene seems unreal! Enjoy your beautiful backyard every minute you can. xo, T.
ReplyDeleteWow, such a pretty backyard! I think it WOULD make all the interior work easier to bear. Gives you a mini retreat to escape to! Looking forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteOh- I LOVE your yard, Suzan. It is just gorgeous and I can't wait to see your dining niche. Did you know that you are a NoReply blogger again-the last two or three comments from you have come thru like that. It is the stupid Google +, of course....lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteI am loving it all. Looking good. I need to see all that pretty when I float in the pool! It has been fun I bet to get outside of the house. Keep it going girl it looks awesome.
Kris
The yard is looking very pretty, I love the flowers and the fence is gorgeous. I wish we lived closer the house I bought had two avid gardeners and I have every plant you can think of. You could come take as much as you want. I swear it takes me two hours to water everything. I love those hanging strawberry plants have never seen anything like that, going to have to look for some of those in this area. Could not help notice that you are almost at 1200 followers my friend, congrats, I see I am not the only one that loves you. hugs Tobey
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that you have peonies. We had them growing up in N.Y. but the only time I have seen them in Texas was at Bill's little auntie's house. I don't know how she did it but she got them to grow here when no one else has been able to. Your yard is going to be gorgeous. I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteLove the ladder as an arbor!! The flowers look wonderful! The next time you have a "discussion" with your husband you can escape to this wonderful oasis you have created or banish him to sit under the ladder...that he didn't want.....that looks wonderful....;)
ReplyDeleteI have two wire baskets that I used to line with those basket liners from the garden suppliers and the flowers would dry out too quickly. This year, I used leftover upholstery fabric scraps, heavy stuff and it's working beautifully. I'm using it from now on.
ReplyDeleteyou need a wine cooler out there so when the inside is about to push you over the edge you can run to the yard sit with a nice glass of wine and relax xx
ReplyDeleteColumbines are one of my favourite perennials, and yours are beautiful! When you move to a new house, to me the best part is seeing what has been sleeping all winter come alive in the spring. Your garden is looking wonderful, with promises of more to come.
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
Old rustic fences do make a beautiful backdrop for flowers!! You're so lucky everything is flourishing so nicely. I think I've killed our whole row of bushes in the front planter. Oh MY gosh! I hope not, but I think the mulch and fabric I put around them (and I replaced the dirt) last season, did them in. They've been alive forever and I think I killed them. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteOnce everything is up and beautiful, you will no longer miss the city. I can hear the outside girl in your voice now. Can't wait to see what a garden niche looks like!
ReplyDeleteLove your flower garden...it's beautiful!!
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Oh Suzan, your garden is looking terrific. Great pictures and I love the dining area. Looking forward to seeing the finished results.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in the garden this weekend.
Mary
It's looking sweet, Suzan. Your lilacs are such a brilliant purple. Beautiful and I love the curtains around your little romantic dining spot AND I can't wait to hear what John has to say..Don't be too hard on her, John, she's going to cook you the best gourmet dinner you've ever had!..Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Suzan! I think I will get as far as my deck for landscaping and that's about it! LOL! An outside dining area?? I'm curious! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I am going to be loving it when my peonies open too but I need to add more bushes. They're addicting!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful yard Suzan.....I think I have a bit of swamp envy.....I'd probably be in there algae and all, skinny dipping of course... Don't want to get my suit dirty. I'm saving it for the big peony blooming party!
ReplyDeleteWe have a new garden here in Phoenix. My mornings are spent in the garden until it gets too hot. Soon, but not yet. Gardens are food for the soul.
ReplyDeleteMust be wonderful can't wait to see it ALLLLLL!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.....I love your beautiful garden and patio you created!!!! xoxoox Chrisitne from Little Brags
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your yard and gardens are absolutely stunning! I would love to know your secrets ;)
ReplyDeleteI want to climb into each and every picture! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor space is really blooming! My favorite is the yellow climber that will wrap around the ladder. It will be so much fun to see what surprises your garden holds!
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor area is looking great! Love the hanging baskets, especially the one with strawberries. Visiting from The Scoop.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, I just popped over from Dianas Blog and I saw your question about the flowers on the Rhubarb. Well I have seen over the years things start to flower to make seeds to grow new plants or to pollinate. Went to school for a special class and I remember a man that had a nursery speak about this. It can happen after a drought or before. Like nature new it needed to over compensate. And believe me I live in dessert country and I work very hard to plant trees for years. Now if I could get some rhubarb to grow. You have a sweet and funny personality. I can see why you and the Rhubarb Thief our friends. LOL You have some lovely flowers. I hope this LONG ditto helped.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Roxy
Your garden is gorgeous and your dining area looks perfect. Can't wait to see more. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeleteThe garden looks great but I hope you took all your delicate things in today. Quite the crazy weather you're having. Hopefully the flowers survived!
ReplyDeleteThe thunder actually terrified me today Heather - like the heavens were literally opening up !
ReplyDeleteThe flowers looked ok when I went out - and the humidity broke ( 39 degrees with the humidity this afternoon ) all is ok now..............hope the weather is a little better in T.O !
xox
How exciting Suzan, it must feel like Christmas morning discovering all these natural gifts popping out of the ground. Looks like the previous owners put a lot of time and energy into the yard. I love your idea of using a wood ladder as an arbor - now that's right up my frugalista alley!
ReplyDeleteMarie@The Interior Frugalista
Very pretty, why did you Photoshop the bench and the things on it? There could be more, the garden could hold its own without Photoshop.
ReplyDeleteHave no idea what you mean?
DeleteLove all the flowers and how they look against the fence. We are thinking about mosquito repellent type flowers too lately.
ReplyDeleteCouple of things...I am finally trying to catch up on my blog reading. My computer is so slow right now that it is crazy. Love the garden and all those little surprises that will keep coming up in the next few weeks. I am a huge fan of perennials! Oh, the comment just a couple above...Photoshop?!? Seriously? I laughed out loud!
ReplyDeleteYour yard, and gardens look fantastic!! How cool that you will have so many surprises waiting for you this summer. What's the photo shop thing about? I don't get it either.
ReplyDeleteAnyway....The ladder/arbor will look wonderful once the climber covers it! Good idea.
Enjoy, girlie!
Debbie

Hanging baskets of flowers do look their best in front of a rustic fence!! You have really been working your tail off!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I love all the flowers. They look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outdoor space.
ReplyDeleteSuzan, there is nothing to compare to having a wonderful garden to get lost in. I'm so happy that you have that as a reprieve from your ever-so-long to-do list. Thanks for sharing you blooms with us at Project Inspire{d]!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of strawberries in the hanging basket... I must remember that. I'm a big fan of fairy lights and can't wait to see your magical outdoor area all lit up Suzan. xx
ReplyDeleteHey Suzan,
ReplyDeleteWe featured this post at this weeks party. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
