to ooh la la's
Aren't they kind of fun?
Not sure if I'm finished with them yet - may distress them ( but need some time to think of that still )
This was an easy one - when you start off with something like this - it can really only get better, right?
Also have to patch up where the paint bled through the stencil - but this is an easy fix with an
artist brush ( listen to me - Miss professional - I'll probably completely screw it up, lol )
it does bleed through - and needs to be patched.
Will post the finished photos when I know what I'm doing ( because I never know from
one minute to the next )
For now they are my Moroccan inspired tables!
ASCP - French Linen - and - White
Its hot and humid again - and I know I shouldn't complain because the Southern States are
going crazy - but it was 38 degrees celcius with the humidity here yesterday - which is 100
degrees farenheit - and I don't know but once you get up to 100 hot is hot...........
And you learn something everyday - really you do.
I've learned that humidity and menopause do not mix well - it's like oil and water - they
can't be in the same pot together -
There's something dangerous brewing inside of me and I just feel like slapping somebody -
just for the sake of doing it - I think it would make me feel cooler lol...................
Standing in a line up yesterday at a cash John noticed someone had left their debit card
in the machine - and so he advised the clerk.
The customer was gone - there was nothing she could do but put it to the side for the
time being - but no, she had to go get the manager - they had to have a meeting -
She then started going through the receipts - and that oil and water was dangerously
rumbling inside my brain - sweat was beading on my forehead - hair was hanging like
a bowl of spaghetti had been dumped over me - and I am sure I was beet red because
I could feel a hot flash coming on - the poor thing had no idea that I was about to turn in
to the HULKette -
but John knew,
I could tell by his nervous reaction.................
And the strangest thing about menopause?
The moment passes and all of a sudden you're laughing uncontrollably -
Strange stuff - this hormonal crap.
Hugs ( slaps too )

Love these little tables. I really like the pattern that you chose.
ReplyDeleteI live in FL. It's been one nasty, hot sauna since last month. I've lived here my entire life and I absolutely hate the heat and humidity. But I love the Fall, Winter and Spring weather. :)
Julie
I laughed so hard when I read this post, I am also going through menopause in this heat and it is not fun. Yesterday I was trying to sand and paint and the sweat was just pouring off of me. I was using chalk paint and I didn't have to add any water lol. This project really has been done with sweat and tears. I love the tables, I have not tried stencils (scared I will screw up big time)but yours looks so good I may have to try it. I am so glad I found your blog, I love your projects and your posts really make me laugh. hugs Tobey
ReplyDeleteHeat wave and menopause; a recipe for disaster! If you stay focused on redeeming furniture for the next few months, we'll all be safer. The tables turned out great! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteSuzan - you always make me smile but this post made me laugh out loud. So many times I have felt that menopausal storm brewing only to call myself out on it and laugh at how amazingly crabby I can be one moment and calm the next!
ReplyDeletePeggy
Its funny how a little bit of paint changes something from frumpy to WOW! Re. the menopause, I hear ya sister!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I really need the smaller one, k? It's hotter than Hades here and yes, the humidity is dreadful. I got out and went to Hobby Lobby for a couple of things...pumpkins on one aisle and Christmas was absolutely everywhere!! I had to almost run out of the store.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya re: the hormones. I take a very low dose HRT. I had a complete hysterectomy eons ago and if I didn't take it, I'd prolly be in the big house by now.
xo
Pat
P.S. I do believe you now...you never sleep! ;-)
Suzan,
ReplyDeleteI love the tables!!
I can so relate to the hormonal stuff...not fun
Found your blog today and wanted to say hello I love your name :)
Suzann ~xoxo~
Where do you get your stencils, I have been successful in finding ones like this, also looking for a chevron one. I know I could make them but really don't want to. LOL
ReplyDeleteCouldn't reply to you directly Debbie - you're a no reply blogger!!!
DeleteThis particular pattern comes from Cutting Edge Stencils -
But I also get a lot of my ( smaller ones ) from the dollar store.
Hugs,
Wow! Fabulous Suzan!!! And definitely funny how similar our tables look!

The tables are just stunning! :) Love them. Also, sorry menopause is so rough for you right now - I'm not there yet, but I really am NOT looking forward to it! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice! I just did a post on the exact same print, its so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Tables!! I love how they look. I really like them un-distressed since it shows off their bright clean lines.
ReplyDeleteI LOL'd at your hot flash description. I was put into chemical menopause at the ripe 'ole age of 21 to try and control endometriosis. I will NEVER forget how that felt. I kept a little fan at my desk at work so I could get that cool air on me IMMEDIATELY before I freaked out. I totally sympathize with you, but your description was awesome!
I love these! They're absolutely gorgeous!! You did a fantastic job! Thank you SO much for linking them up at Transformation Tuesday and inspiring others. XO Laura, The Ironstone Nest
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your tables turned out great. I love that stencil. This must be the week for table makeovers. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, we must be the same age because you are cracking me up with the hormone story. I can so relate, and I do live in the south!!!! Horrible combination. GGGRRRR
I love your blog. Thanks for visiting me, and I am following you on GFC and Linky. I don't want to miss any of your posts. :)

ReplyDeleteHolly
these are great, suzan! love the colors and pattern!
ReplyDeleteAh, menopause - nature's revenge for all the fun we had when we were younger!!
ReplyDeleteThe tables are fabulous! If you've followed my blog at all, you'll know that I love this trellis pattern - handpainted it in the guest bathroom.
Thanks for sharing at the All Star Block Party.
Love these!!! They turned out super cute. Barb
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious! Thank goodness those power surges are just about over for me! I have the same stencil, and I was thinking about using it on a table when I repaint it. Yours turned out great. Following with Linky followers now.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a hot flash in ages and then, out of the blue, the damned things started again. I completely understand the need to just slap someone some days! My favorite phrase for the past month or so is "I am going to poke him/her in the eye." I feel this way for roughly the entire 8 hours I am at work. How any of us are going to survive the next 12 years until my retirement is anybody's guess. I can only hope that I will begin to mellow out at some point and just be the charming old lady in the front office!!
ReplyDeleteLove your tables! They look beautiful. Megan
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower and am excited to check out these beautiful tables. They look great!
ReplyDeleteI would love if you stopped by to say hi and followed back

Hi Suzan--I loved your post today--so funny. (Don't slap me--I meant that in a nice way!) The tables are so pretty--a lovely transformation, and I am impressed that you are working on projects during such a heat wave--I'd probably be reduced to a smear on the sofa at that point. Take care--have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteThese look fantastic. I love the Moroccan motif.
ReplyDeleteHaving been through menopause, sugar, I can understand what you're feeling. Just go with th' flow and it'll be over before you know it. It was that way for me. But then I kinda sailed through it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tables!
xoxo,
Connie

ReplyDeleteHello again, Suzan! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to Fabulous Fridays! Have a great weekend! :)
Julie
These turned out gorgeous! Thanks for the inspiration. I recently painted an unfinished pine cabinet and I think some stencil might be exactly what it needs to finish it off.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan!
ReplyDeleteYou really gave those old tables some personality with the Quatrefoil variation pattern. I recently shared a short definition/history here:(http://bunnyjeansdecorandmore.blogspot.com/2011/08/ten-foot-tall-shower-curtain.html.
About the sweaty problem... been there, done that!
Thanks for sharing at my party last week :)
