BEFORE & AFTER HUTCH

Good morning everyone -

I'm feeling a little like the Tasmanian Devil lately - I'm flying from one thing to another at such a frantic pace that some days I think it's lunch time and it's supper time ( which means I skip a meal so I should be losing weight - and I'm NOT )

I finally finished this beast....................

And it kind of WAS a beast to work on because the back piece was very warped once we took it off -
making putting it back on extremely difficult !
But I think it was worth the extra effort

Hutch makeover, Annie Sloan Chalk paint, Pure White

I know I already mentioned it in a previous post - but all of the black outlining was done with a sharpie pen
because the grooves ( especially in the drawers ) were too narrow, even with the smallest paint brush I could find - it worked wonderfully!

The wallpaper started off in the master bedroom  HERE and on my kitchen hutch HERE

Leaving me just enough to do 1 more hutch - and this seemed to be the perfect one to do it on

As you can see, the photos were taken before the knobs were put back on - or the glass on the 2 side panels - that's me - hurry - hurry - hurry ( I'm late - I'm late - for a very important date )

Hutch makeover, painted with ASCP chalk paint

Let there be light ( and there was )

Hutch makeover, Chalk Paint pure white

I think I need to take a break from these big pieces ..........................
( there's one more waiting for me in the van - but after that I'm back to dressers for awhile I think )

Have a great day everyone - I'm off to haul another one of these out of the van lol

Keep smiling ♥

I'll be at these fabulous parties!!!

  3. This piece came out beautifully Suzan. Question: Are all these pieces consignments for customers or do you buy them, make them over and sell them? Just wondering. I have an inquisitive mind. :) Have a great day.

  21. Hi Girl! I so know your sigh of NO more big pieces. I went through this when doing so many lage pieces for my shop before I gave that up and now work on pieces here and there.
I have done just that with paint pens to get in the tiny creases. I also will paint a line of paint with a small brush and if it smears out of lines I will then just lightly sand I. The areas to distress and blur the lines, or I just leave those grooves plainly painted white like the rest of the piece and distress the grooves giving it a worn and weathered look!
I love this piece and could imagine in I. The bedroom with the same pattern of paper up against it using the piece like a library cabinet, and art pieces in heavy antiqued gold framed mirrors and art flanking each side of the cabinet, making sure the framed pieces are old and tattered giving interest to the modern country wall paper print anchoring the now wall unit your beautiful cabinet with so much potential in a bedroom.

The lower shelf can serve as a linen shelf, and the top of the unit can display large French baskets. I am going to go check out the bedroom post with the same wall paper.
You so need to see if this piece could be a fit in the bedroom:)

Thank you Susanne for taking the time to visit me and find some soulful inspiration.

See you and your creative beauty soon.

  36. Beautiful, Suzan! With the wallpaper it really looks amazing! And what a great idea to use a sharpie for the tiny grooves! I think I've seen you do that before, but I just might have to steal that idea. Thanks for sharing your talent. Debbie :)
