My outdoor Ladder and ladder inspiration !

My computer went " down " on Monday night - my brand new computer - and I just wanted to toss it out the window really -
What an oxymoron to love blogging but hate computers .................
Anyway - I didn't have the time it takes to look for a house for IWLTW - so thought I'd show you my newest find instead !!!

While strolling through my yard one day
In the merry merry month of May

I spotted something sticking out from the corner - shoved down behind a bunch of compost - just barely peaking out really - ( and only a fellow blogger can imagine the next scenario )

Suzan says - John - OMG John, come, you won't believe what I've discovered !!!
John ambles over - What?
Suzan says - THERE !!!  Tugging at his arm - jumping up and down excitedly - help me pull it out!
John says - WTH?  That old thing?
Suzan says - YES - that old beautiful thing - PLEASE !!!
John says - Actually we should keep that upstairs somewhere
Suzan says - I thought you didn't like ladders in the house?
John says - NOT AS A DECORATION - FOR SAFETY PURPOSES - YOU KNOW - IN CASE THERE'S A FIRE OR SOMETHING?
Suzan says -  I'll take my chances...............I want it in the garden

How over the top fabulous is a find like this?

Oh I have plans for it - such plans - what would you do with it?

Any of these ideas strike your fancy?

I love every single one of them -

John says - I suppose you're going to dangle as many things from it as possible?
Suzan says - Probably
John says - What if I actually need the thing to get up somewhere?
Suzan says - You can't have it John - this one's mine - I discovered it !!!
Suzan says - You'll have to borrow the neighbor's
John says - Yeah - I'll just tell them my wife has decorations hanging off ours -
and he says it in a squeaky little voice - trying to mimic me - which If I were on a ladder I'd fall off laughing.
( AND truly - I would not let him climb on this one - it's far too rickety for it's original use )

Later on in the evening when we were sitting outside ( twilight - so he couldn't really see way back in the
" lilac bush " corner

John says - What's that in the corner?
Suzan says - What?
John says - Over there in the corner - there's something standing there
Suzan says - I have no idea what you're talking about

John starts to get up to investigate
Suzan says - Don't bother going over - it's just a ladder
John says - HOW MANY BLOODY LADDERS DO WE NEED PROPPED UP IN THE YARD???

( oops - have to paint the back and the bottom still - it didn't show when it was in the bedroom ( HERE )

John says -  It's looks ridiculous now..................WHAT do you have hanging from it?
Suzan says - Oh just a spade - and a little bird feeder and a lantern and a bucket ( to collect the lilacs in )
John shakes his head - I DON'T LIKE IT - SHOULDN'T WE BOTH AGREE ON THESE THINGS?
Suzan says - Well not necessarily......................

We'll see if he notices the baskets of flowers I intend to " dangle " off it this weekend lol

Have a great day all !
I'll be trying to climb the ladder of success.......................

  2. What a great find Suzan! I love old ladders, and have been looking for one for some time. They're so great to display so many things in so many ways. Love it!

  3. What a wonderful discovery you lucky girl! Cheers.

  4. I love both ladders! You could stretch the long one across the corner of the fences and hang things on it like lanterns or hanging baskets. It would make a great corner for lounging. I love the step ladder decorated. We have an old wooden stepladder that I'd like to do that with but hubby uses it all the time instead of the newer aluminum one I got for free at a yard sale! Why?? I hope you can find out what's wrong with your new computer. How frustrating!

  12. John is going to hang you from a ladder one day. Just sayin'!
Maybe you should encourage the kids to give him a new ladder of his very own for Father's Day. ;)

  14. I think they both look great (sorry John). They add interest, drawing the eye to other levels, and the dangling baskets will be the icing on the cake.

  21. Old, wood ladders..... can't find them for love or money! Though I did see a beautiful, old, all original finish intact cherry pickers ladder. it had to have been 15 feet long. Same style as the old apple picking ladders. I would have bought it if I had a room large enough in this old cape to hang it! I know you would love it, I certainly did. Patty/NS

  23. Well I could see this ladder in the house to hold comforters or linens. Outside would be nice if you had a pool to drape towel's. Garden area to hang your hat. Hang the tools and plants. And pray you never need it to escape from the second floor. Poor John. ..

  26. Ladders are Great! What a wonderful find Susan. Like what you had done with yours and also great for vines to climb up on.
I have a ladder much like the one in the first photo only somewhat wider that I have leaning up against the bedroom wall that I store some of my throw blankets on.
I totally love using old ladders for all sorts of things.

  33. I love old ladders too, what a great find. I actually had a ladder Christmas tree two Christmas's ago. I put lanterns on each step and strung lights up and had a light inside each lantern. That would look cool outside too if you used clear lights. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  34. Total score Suzan! I found nothing fun like that in this house. I like the mish-mash one myself!
