Americans have an Island - It's called Hawaii
We have a couple of Island's too - one of them is Newfoundland
Take a look at Newfoundland last week..................

Yesterday was -26 celcius ( that's -14 degrees farenheit )
Tomorrow it's going to be a nice balmy -16 ( 3 degrees farenheit )
Time to dig out all my summer dresses I guess
If it keeps up Cat in the Hat will take on a completely new meaning

Ok - all you Southerners - NOT ONE WORD about how hot it is down there lol

for much of it - doing absolutely nothing....................
Now...it hasn't been that cold yet down here in Southern Georgia...but we are expecting it to get "purddy chilly" this weekend...I can't imagine having to live with that much snow!!

I love snow but if I opened my door to a wall of snow I know exactly the words that would come out of my mouth and none of them are fit to print! I am not heading to the mountains in Pennsylvania this weekend because it is supposed to snow this afternoon (a few inches) and traveling on the interstate might be hazardous. We are sissies!! (BTW - low last night here was 9 and the high is supposed to be 23. That is cold enough for me!!)

Fiquei preocupada com os carro, com o degelo, entra água dentro dos carro? Nunca vi neve em minha vida, aqui o máximo é uma camada de um centímetro de gelo que cria nos dias mais frios.

If I opened my door to that I would be seriously freaking out. Our last winter with 6inches of snow, 3 inches of ice on top, and another close to 10 inches of snow that left us snowbound in the middle of the city for 3 days was the last one for me. Hence the move to the beach. We are enjoying a balmy 25 F right now with a high of 45. So maybe we should break out the bikinis, lol... But, better than snow any day....
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are pretty sobering. I have never in my life experienced anything like this and I agree, one look at that door would send me back to bed. OK....not one word about San Antonio!!

Ok so it's only snowed here once, not even enough o build a snowman, in my entire life, I simply can it comprehend -26 the coldest it gets around here is about 10 Celsius. That's colder than my freezer! Wow! Looks pretty though :)
ReplyDeleteThose photos of Newfoundland make me ashamed for being so cranky about winter this morning. This happens every year toward the end of January. I know winter will not be over here until some time in April - and it seems like a long, long, long, long time from now. But we do NOT have that amount of snow. I would be so depressed!!!

We had -42 a couple days ago. (F or C, doesn't matter!) Now it's only -25C.

Thank you for pointing out fahrenheit and celsius differences. I am so metric-challenged, really. Some day the U.S. will convert and we will be able to understand what the rest of the world is talking about. We should put that on our U.S. Bucket List - "Convert to metric." Right after "Investigate North Korea's nuclear program."

i saw that photo the other day and thanked my lucky stars that although it's freezing here in Canada, we don't have that kind of snow. I would be panicking - claustrophobia overload - probably would have to jump out of an upstairs window. Couldn't handle THAT much snow.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that the weather is changing and that we are forecasted a high of 7C on Monday - ridiculous!!
One of my cat says the hat is stupid but on the other paw he'd like boots very much, when he comes back from his quick walk in the garden these days he always shakes his paws, especially the back paws... He's so funny! We have temperatures around 0°C which is quite uncommon here.

DeleteNone of the temps are normal anymore - last weekend I was out walking for hours in a light jacket - this week
it's freezing beyond belief - and their calling for warm temperatures next week again -

Well that actually did happen to us when we lived in Calgary. Took a picture because I almost couldn't believe it. This is why we moved to mid-Vancouver Island, it's the mild spot for winter in Canada, though it's no Hawaii. Patty/BC

It's been so cold here I've been doing nothing but sitting by the fire all week catching up on some reading. It's been kinda nice actually, except when I had to go out to go to work. Brrrr! I'd prefer to be hibernating with a good book anytime.

What in heaven's name do you people live so far North for? :) Are you crazy? I don't understand how you all get around to work and whatnot and stay warm in that kind of mess. Your power bills must be astronomical in the Winter. :0 You all need to get in your cars, head south and then keep going til the weather changes. Simple as that.

ReplyDeleteWell us PA'ers went nuts over a few inches.. but in our defense it was light but slippy!! I had to drive 15 miles home in it and it wasn't always easy. Whew! stay safe and warm friend :)

We opened our front door to that during the Great Chicago Blizzard of 1967. My dad spent 3 days just tunneling out to his truck. We had 7 kids..I would have tunneled with a spoon if I were him!!
