Good morning everyone !
Just a quick little makeover that I did for my daughter last week.
Her Mother-in-law had found this sewing table by the curbside and brought it over - Lindsay wanted color
( she's not a white distressed kind of girl - she's into color MOM !!! )
and so Mama gave her some color
complete with silver slippers
and a hidden message inside
We had a bit of a " debate " over dirty waxing - but I think the next time I go see her I'll have a tin of dark wax hidden in the bottom of my purse............
I used ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT ™ - Emperor's silk - and a grey made by mixing Graphite & Pure White ( looks almost like Paris Grey actually )
Ok - here I go - paint brush in hand - waving good-bye !
I'm doing a dresser and desk now :)
Have a great Thursday all !
Much love,
Me

ReplyDeleteWOW, what a great job on the sewing table - looks really good. You are one talented lady.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Your talents never cease to amaze me Suzan! I wish you lived closer and could help the hot mess that my house is!
ReplyDeleteI love it and the little saying inside is such a neat idea! You are a busy painting lady! Have fun...:)
ReplyDeleteSew Cute! I love sewing machine table makeovers.
ReplyDeleteI have the same issue with my daughter. She doesn't want anything distressed. She says she gets enough of that with six kids and two dogs. Love the 'sew what?'.
ReplyDeleteI love that red. Emperor's Silk is going to be on a piece of my furniture, soon. . .no matter what the man says about painted furniture!
ReplyDeleteSo sweeeet! Love the red and the "Sew What" inside adorable.
ReplyDeleteKris
You are such a great mom and i how long before that baby? This is the daughter right? Have a great day Suzan.
ReplyDeleteShe's rocking those silver slippers! Love it. xo Patty
ReplyDeleteI love the hidden message Suzan! You did a beautiful job on the sewing cabinet but I agree with you about throwing the dark wax in your purse next time you go visit. Dark wax adds so much depth to Emperor's Silk. Pretend you're going to the bathroom and sneak a rub - she may be pleasantly surprised (yikes, that sounds a little dirty). Worse thing that can happen is you use some clear wax to remove it.
ReplyDeleteSuzan, I think she won't mind a tiny bit of dark wax on the red parts. It will give it more depth. But what I want to know is whether she will use it for sewing. I want to paint and wax my sewing table because it is uuuuuuuggly, but I think it will get all dinged up if I actually sew something. (This is where my husband breaks out in hysterical laughter.)
ReplyDeleteNo she won't mind at all - and she's using it more as a place to keep her lap top Teri ( but the sewing machine actually DOES work ) If you're painting it and worried about it getting dinged up - then distress the heck out of it - it'll be fine !!!

Suzan, I now know I DO want to paint my sewing table. :) I love the silver slippers. I'll let you know when I get it out of storage & am able to paint it. Thank you for the inspiration! ~ Christina
ReplyDeleteOh, I Love that make-over and your cute little hidden message sentiment;. . . cute. You keep me in stitches with your humor
ReplyDeleteHave an enjoyable weekend
You go girl, your projects are great. Is the brush embedded into your hand yet? lol Jo
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose, and the hidden message is perfect! Thanks for the inspiration. I need to do something with my great-grandmother's old machine cabinet. The finish is scarred, but I hesitate to cover the memories. BUT, yours turned out so well, I'm very tempted...
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, love today's makeover and, wow, all the other makeovers in your life.
ReplyDeleteHow clever. I love the slippers and the sweet surprise under the top. Thanks for inspiring us at VIParty.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely adorable. I would 'sew' loove a fun table like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Trina - my daughter loves it !!!
