I have experience putting stone on houses after all ! ( my Fairy Stone Cottage HERE )
The deck is coming along ................. ( French doors are being ordered in 2 weeks to replace that bottom window - but will only get installed in the Fall )
But now I need it to look like this once it's all finished !
Everything I do is for resale purposes..............hope I don't end up falling madly in love with this place :)
Unless of course - like I said - he kills me first !
( Some of you may or may not be called as character witnesses by the way.)
Have a wonderful day everyone ♥

Like your blog!
many greetings

Thanks very much !
DeleteSuzan, you start my day with a smile. Stone cottages ARE adorable, and my kids used the first Home Depot option on their floor to ceiling fireplace. They had it professionally installed though, and you seriously can't tell it is faced stone, with the actual cement between them. Next time I am there, I will take a picture. Poor John, he doesn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeleteOh it must look gorgeous ! I'd love to see a pic !
DeleteJohn really doesn't stand a chance because he HAS NO VISION lmho !
Thanks so much
xoxo
Gorgeous cottages!!!! The deck is going to be so fabulous. Happy Saturday Suzan!
ReplyDeleteI love these stone house images! How nice your cottage will look (thinking positive here) with that stone from HD!! Sweet!! Is it sunny and warm there? If so please push it down here. It's been so cloudy, cool and damp here. Summer up and went on vacation I think. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, sistah. My "Little Stone Cottage" is brick and shake and not stone. But the roof is slate, so does it count??
ReplyDeleteI'm siding with you on this one - definitely add stone.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the stone cottages... I want one in Carmel, CA!!!
ReplyDeleteI love stone cottages they remind me so much of a fairy village where I was meant to live. Your French doors are going to be awesome. Thank you for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me Cathy !

I meant to buy a stone cottage, too! What happened? Oh...reality is that there were no stone cottages in our price range in the area where we wanted to live. However, there is a small {exclusive} community close by. They might have a stone cottage we can look at, but it would be a more recently-built one! (When we were talking to our realtor about wanting a house over 20 years old, he said that there aren't any. Really, they are far a few between. So, no character house for us! We'll work on that, though. First, we must remove the shutters!!! I hate shutters that are fake, especially if it is obvious that they can't possibly cover the window. Putting shutters on a bay window is just plain idiotic! WORKING shutters, we would keep in a heartbeat. FAKE shutters? GET THEM OFF MY HOUSE!!!) We are so funny about our houses, aren't we?!! Also, no deck for us — I would rather have a patio any day, and that's what we have! Yay! The house is built on a slab, so we don't have to go up any stairs of any kind! My knees are happy with that arrangement! The house was advertised as handicap accessible. As far as stairs go, it is, but not when you can't get a wheelchair through that one bathroom door or when the halls and doors are of a "normal" span! Also, I appreciate your using French doors, because sliders just won't do! {Right up there with barn doors...snicker, snicker}
ReplyDeleteSuzan,
ReplyDeleteLove how the deck is coming along and french doors are going to look awesome. I love that stone veneer siding for the house. I have never seen that. How great is that stuff. Hmmmmmm now you have me thinking about stone!
Kris
Aren't they all just absolutely FAIRYTALE precious...we have partial stone and now...I'm gonna do a post on it and link back to you. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteWell I've fallen for my wreak you might as well too! Love the large deck, can't wait till we get to the deck stage, that will be months away. The first floor of. the addition is up and framed. If we can get rid of the rain the 2nd floor walls should be framed next week. Seriouly, I hope you get to do the stone, it will totally cottage up the house like it was in France! xo Patty
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. Totally. LOL ;)
ReplyDeleteLove all the cottages you shared.... Looks like you are making lots of progress on your deck, love the french doors.. thank you for sharing at Share it One More Time..:)
ReplyDeleteYou made my heart skip a beat with those gorgeous stone cottages. Love them! Jo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Our house is brick---does that come in a close second? Naw.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Oh, I do love stone cottages.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny for John to kill.

Oh my gosh, I want one too! Pretty sure I have seen cottage number two in person - wish I could go in each one! Maybe I can make my barn to be art studio look like one? Ha.
ReplyDeleteDeck is looking good. French doors will be wonderful! Have a great week!

Cecilia
Love, love those cottages! Yes Suzan...you go girl, do it!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
FABBY
I totally agree, stone cottages are so charming! Love your stone options, the first and last are my favorites. Such fun transforming a home to be your special place...hope you live through it, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy
Oh, just do it! As my sister-in-law says, "Life is not a dress rehearsal."
ReplyDeleteI would live in any one of those cottages! And, of course you have to do it to yours! He'll love it! Just do it while he's sleeping ;)
ReplyDeleteOh me too! I want another stone cottage, I vaneered my last home with faux stone it was not ledge stone or stack stone I wanted that messy true stone feel like thses old stone cottages, I told our masonary guys that I wanted the morter to seep out and the stone to be placed randomly to get this less then stacked look. It was amazing everyone that drove by would ask us who did the design and where did we haul all the stone from, they could not believe that it was faux and not real solid stone.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks really cute with the gable vault line to the roof with such a nice pitch to it, the French doors off to the decking will be amazingly euro chic :)
Well my dear, I am going back to see all the postings I have missed out on to catch up here.
Xx
Dore

PS Just saw your spam comment - I can't remember with blogspot, but do you have the option of requiring moderation on the first comment only - I use that on my wordpress.org blog along with a spam filter (Akismet). Once I've approved them, then they auto post ever after. That's been a good compromise for me :) I never get junk on my pages and my regular visitors only have to deal with waiting on the first comment. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
I love all these houses...so adorable! I'd live in any of them! Good luck with your own project, too!

They are so soothing to look at - even the one on top whose roof looks like it's about to fall in. :) I needed a relaxing post and found it here and even a few laughs. Thanks! #frugalfriday
ReplyDeleteYou're right - they are soothing to look at !
DeleteEspecially when you're living in a semi chaotic reno house !

Hi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteI love those stone cottages too, when I see them they transport me back in time to when we lived in Germany 40+ yrs. ago.
All these houses are just wonderful, and just warm your heart they are so homey and cozy looking, they also remind me
of some Thomas Kincaide pictures that I have seen............wonderful paintings I might add........
Hope your cottage turns out to be a stone cottage too............if I was a betting woman, I would bet it willl...............
Blessings, Nellie
I just showed the Home Depot stone veneer siding to my husband. We both love it! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fabulous???

ReplyDeleteSo dreamy! But I have to say, your house is looking great, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - but mine is more of a nightmare at the moment LOL !
DeleteWe've had so much to do on the inside ( and still do ) that the outside didn't get painted this summer ( which was the plan )
